My Second 5x5—Welcome Back to the Jungle

So I finished my first 5x5. For my second 5x5 I want to keep a journal again. My bench and deadlift weight went up. My initial row weight was a little too high when I started so I set that weight back mid way through. Here are my new max-weights for the excel spreadsheet. My main goal right now is to get leaner. So I’m eating much cleaner and got rid of some fat from my diet. I'm uping my Chicken, Brown Rice, Salad, Low fat Whey Power, Fruit, etc. I'm still trying to eat a lot to keep my strenght up for my workouts.

Squat 230/3 reps
Bench 230/5 reps
Row 160/5 reps
Deadlift 280/5 reps
Military 100/5 reps

I’m 24, 6’1, 210lbs, 15% bf

Workout went great. After I was done I wanted to jog a bit on a treadmill. During my first 5x5 I cut out cardio for the most part. When I started running I thought my knees were going to die. I use to be able to sprint and run fast but now I feel as if squats for the past 9 weeks did some damage to my knees. They just feel so clunky (if that’s a word). This also happened during my last workout of my first 5x5 so I took about 5 days off before starting this.

Can I replace the squats with anything else that would be a little easier on my knees like a leg press?

On a side note, can I replace military presses with incline dumbbell press?

Squats are much easier on the knees than the leg press IMO. You should have your form checked. Have you ever videoed yourself squatting?

Day 2
Incline Dumbbell Press
60, 70, 80, 90 x 5

Deadlifts

I'll most likely have a 24g protein shake later before I go to bed. My knees are feeling better. I did some light work on my legs today. Nothing worth reporting. And then I did some cardio after weight training. They are starting to feel looser.
