its winter, so bulk, but don't go insane with dumping the cals on b/c then it is hard to get it all off. get enough extra cals so that you are gaining, but no need to pile it on too much, then you are just going to feel fat and strong.

Has he even been weight training? Why not get on a good diet, and hit the gym hard and build a solid foundation before he starts taking gear.

What's he going to do other than bulk? The guy has no base whatsoever. No delts, no arms, no chest, no traps. Does he even work out?

Ouch, that was harsh...

With all due respect, I don't understand why you guys keep thinking that you must either "Bulk" or "Cut". You CAN do both at the same time! I have done so myself. It's all about insulin management.

YOu guys are gonna say that stuff where you need a caloric deficit to lose fat and a caloric surplus to gain muscle. It's all hogwash!

You do need a caloric surplus to gain WEIGHT, but not to gain MUSCLE. You can eat high protein and put on muscle while burning calories from fat stores. You need a caloric deficit to lose WEIGHT, but not to lose FAT. You can be burning up calories from fat stores and gaining MUSCLE weight.

I've actually done it myself not some computer nerd. Here's proof positive of my progress:

wait til he builds a foundation, your body is like a house you dont wanna start building it until you have a good foundation or it will fall apart peice by peice:D he will not wanna hear that but he will thank you if he heeds our warning, dont rush into anything bro, good things come to those who wait

Asia has a good point here. If you do it correctly you can gain muscle while losing fat. You can change your body composition while basically staying the same weight. It just depends on how much muscle you gain and how much fat you lose. Since muscle weighs more than fat you could actually gain weight while lowering your bodyfat %

I'd say tell him to start working out for a while then think about AS next year

I agree 100 % , he doesn't need AS now , he is so out of shape that a good diet , aerobics , weigth training and ECA would give him awesome results...

Cut/Bulk... workout... And tell him to do something about his face... it is all black and blotchy...

i would try to convince him gear is not the way to go for now, he needs to continute training for another year or so at least. if i were him i would do some weight training and lots of cardio for awhile.

sorry bro, but i'm with everyone else. get the base up, lift natural for at least 4 or 5 months.

hes obviously way to inexperienced in weightlifting to even be considering a cycle so soon. he needs years of experience under his belt first.

I agree with Asia the Invincible ... Do both for now. Then come summer... let it rip boy. I have a good diet to grow on while not spilling over with fat. You wont get that cut but at least your body fat% will maintain the same while building mucsle. Go here http://www.huntingredstag.com/rich/buldog.html and check out my bulking diet. Tell him to just cut one or to meals out.

GOOD LUCK!

PS I'll trade you my Don Mattingly rookie for your Mark Mcquire rookie:D

thanks guys, that helps alot.... i know he needs to eat more, he just has to get that mindset. he worked out alot w/me over the summer and then stopped because he still thought he needed to lose weight. hes gonna start training again and eating alot and hopefully build a strong base by the summer and then think about a cycle. thanks for the replies

1.75 grams of protein per lb of bodyweight
1 gram of carbs per lb of bodyweight
.5 grams of unsaturated fats per lb of bodyweight

6 Meals a day

First 3 meals, No Fat.

Last 3 meals, No Carbs.

Peace.
