My Adistars Came In The Mail Today..

have you done any cardio in them? I've just been working out in skate shoes and I've been thinking about a different pair for a while, at least the skate shoes are flat sole though. ^ ^

Is this a joke?

Kab - don't do anything but train in them - never go outside in them, etc...

No.. it wasn't a joke.. they sounded like really good shoes.. I wasn't sure if they were bad for cardio or not.. but I'm guessing from your comment.. that they are not meant for cardio.. thanks..

They are Weightlifting shoes (designed specially for training the Olympic lifts...snatch, clean/jerk), and have wooden soles, so running in them would spell shin splints of stress fractures pretty quickly.

OH LOL!

that does sound kind of funny that I asked now. yikes that would be painful and bad for the treadmill or running.

any suggestions on shoes that would be better for overall running and weightlifting with a flat sole?

Flat sole running shoes are not going to do much good. If for affordability reasons you can only have one pair of shoes to train in I would go with a running shoe, and then I would squat and deadlift barefoot. I have the same shoes as Kab, and I still do a few sets barefoot as I feel it helps my overall picture.

good call, I guess I'll just grab two pair of shoes then.

thanks al420.

Well I brought a book bag to the gym with me (and will have to get a small gym bag soon..I was using a couple ghetto supermarket shopping bags before this).

I have a pair of shox just for to the gym and cardio, and the oly lifting shoes, and an older pair of shox now for just to the gym on non-cardio days (You don't want to overuse your runners too much either..ideally a two pair rotation just for running is nice). Honestly there is pretty much no shoe that is ideal for both because most runners raise your heel high off the groun and even your toes a bit. You can use any old school flat soled b'ball or skateboarding shoes for lifting though like chucks (roughly $40) or puma californias.
