Muslim Woman sues Abercrombie

Just to clarify, Cindy, in most cases men don't require women to wear hijabs, women choose to wear them (though yes, there obviously are situations in which it is forced).

Modesty is an Islamic virtue, and it is said that if one is not modest, then they also are not Muslim. So most Muslim women wear hijabs of their own free will in order to show their devotion to God and His will. That's why it's important to conservative Muslim women: they believe they are not Muslim without it.

The Qur'an tells them to wear one in the presence of all men who are not fathers, brothers or spouses.

how come some muslims half ass it and don't cover the face?

It's not half-assing. In all organized religion, there are followers who are more conservative and traditional in their beliefs and some who are not. It's like the difference between Orthodox/Haredi/Conservative/Reformed Jews.

oh, it's half assing it for sure.

If they're not gonna cover their face then it's like a friggin scarf.

Scarfs aren't modest

So why tell her to remove her hijab then? It's pure discrimination, based on her religion.

According to the story she is accusing low level managers that work at the store level of telling her to take it off. If she is correct this happened only because of a lack of management training and inefficiency in highering practices. The fact is is that abercrombie managers have a large workload and many hours of work and managing in a week. The monkey wrench is that the people that are to manage there are expected to also be young and goodlooking, especially if at one of their nicer and higher volume stores.
I learned a great deal by working at one of their top tier stores about business as well as working with some really beautiful girls.
So to re-cap what I said is that these managers were young and inexperienced or just decided to take the power of the brand into their own hands if this muslim woman is correct. Abercrombie is huge about having uniformity between their stores and higher level people in the company would have advised against handling the situation like this. The pay sucks so badly there as a manager too (and as a brand rep/model) that many people simply don't give a shit and are about to quit anyway. So they will say whatever the fuck they want because they are on the verge of leaving anyway.

I don't think its required by the husband only, but he might be responsible for her sin if she does not wear one. I'm not sure though...

Men are not responsible for the sins of his wife and vice versa. The hijab and other Muslim garments are actually meant more to keep men from sinning by engaging in lustful thoughts or actions than anything else. They are worn actually to give women and men a more even playing field so men aren't focused on a women's curves or other feminine qualities and instead listens to what she says and gets to know her in more ways than physically.

That's the reason some men require them. To keep him from sinning, not to keep his wife from sinning.

I see you added some after I quoted you...

That doesn't make sense...You said earliar that

"The Qur'an tells them to wear one in the presence of all men who are not fathers, brothers or spouses."

Why would the husband require his wife to wear one to keep from sinning if she isn't required to wear one in his presence?
