MUscle relaxers? Can you still workout?

If your taking a muscle relaxer can you still workout and how might the relaxers affect your strenght or workout?

Would you workout while drunk? Ok then.

Well ok I admit it, I have, but it definitely isn't an optimal scenario for growth, that's for sure.

In other words, YES it will effect you strength, and endurence, and NO, you should NOT workout while taking them. Consider it falling under the warning of "not operating heavy machinery".

Used them one time...

during a bout with a bad SI, not a good idea. It allows you to train through pain, but it will hurt you in the long run. That acute type of pain is giving you a signal that something is wrong and wow was that a mistake for me.

Not good..

I've worked out on painkillers w/ no problem. But, for me muscle relaxers are something I can only take before bed. I've tried to lift a couple of times on them, and my workouts really sucked; lethargy, lack of stamina etc. Wouldn't advise.

bro, i can barely get my ass off the couch. are you serious? maybey you are since i once had a roomate who would get stoned as hell before he worked out.

I'd be afraid of an injury. I wouldn't want to unrack a big weight to squat without all my muscles being as tight as possible.

I take a norflex at night sometimes and work out the next day, but I could not see working out after eaing a norlfex.

I couldn't workout on them last week when my back went out. Also had a chick friend come over and couldn't keep a good hard on as well. Not a good scene taking those muscle relaxers...

The use of muscle relaxing drugs prior to training eliminates the possibility of optimal CNS/PNS stimulation, motor-unit recruitment, and contractile force generation. In turn, you eliminate any chance of optimal physiological adaptation.

In short, if you are in any way serious about making progress in the gym, avoid the use of such drugs if at all possible.
