Muscle Milk with CKD

OXANDRIN said:
i always thought fats lower insulin response. meaning if you consume a meal of fats and carbs say 25 grams each the insulin response would be far less than if you consumed just 25 grams of carbs alone.....

Fats slow down digestion, the lowr insulin response is a results of a slower digestion process. Usually w/ insulin that has been released, fat can be stored....

i agree that fats and carbs are not a good mix if you are trying to get lean.

i know you are big on ketogenic diets and specifiacally the CKD and TKD diets.

i find for me 50-100 grams of carbs are low enough for fat loss

For most ppl 50-100 will get them into ketosis in the long-run, so it's no biggie, just takes a while. Everyone is different and everyones' diets are different.

Also, peopel have different goals. Me I'm pretty lean and want to get into ketosis ASAP, therefore I'm preserving more muscle and burning more fat more days. If your gonna gonna be carbing up every week or 2, I think you woudl want to spend the majority of teh time being in ketosis, rather than getting in it again right before you kick yoruself out with the carb up.

Is muscle Milk good for anything? If you can get it really cheap or for free is it worth adding or is it basically a splurge meal?

It would work during a carb-up...

ok, so what if you store some fat for an hour or two after you have a more than 6 gram carb meal. the body is going right back to those fat stores the rest of the 20 hours of the day. Short term you store some fat; long term it balances out. Ketosis isn't necessarily what causes fat loss it's the low calories.

That's not totally true; you might be out of ketosis for 24-48 hours - although an unlikely time frame, it's possible. Also, your body is not able to fluctuate different fuels for energy every hour of the day, so you're going to have a problem losing bodyfat in that case. Low-calories don't cause bodyfat in all instances; for example, too low of a caloric intake can cause starvation and so on. You have to make the difference in not generalizing diets and ketosis; by itself, ketosis is a wonder, working to shed bodyfat while retaining muscle mass - but if done wrong, it's pretty much useless and CAN backfire.

How can Muscle Milk be good on carb up swhen you want to limit your fat intake and bump the carb intake? MM has 18 grams of fat, making it very high for one meal on a carb up right? And this fat would then be stored as fat with all the carbs yoru taking in right?

Eat it towards the end of your carb-up when you're suppose to be working w/ low-gi carbs. That's the whole point of the bar - to be a treat in the whole dieting regiment.
