i REALLY cant stand the bullshit from the people in commercial gyms. let me tell you about my encounter today with another fucktard.

so im benching and half-way through my sets, this guy asks me if he can work in w/ me. no problem. he warms up with 135 and jumps right to my working weight and asks me to spot him. he brings it down w/ no control and bounces it for 2 reps. at the 3rd rep i knew he couldnt get it so i grabbed it when the bar stopped about an inch off his chest and helped him lock it out. he then bitches at me saying how he wants to do it himself. if i didnt grab it it would've came down and decapitated him. he said "powerlifters dont need that shit. i have to do it on my own. us powerlifters break through plateaus that way". he has never competed in powerlifting and hes fucking weak. yet he's telling ME what POWERLIFTERS do. what a fucking gypsy bitch.

so he goes and grabs somebody else to spot him after my set. i go out to get some water and come back in and hes talking to some guy saying he hated how i spotted and called it bullshit. he didnt know i was standing there. the other guy gave him a liftoff and he got it for 3 reps again, bouncing it worse this time, and the guy grabbed it on the 4th rep because there was no way in hell he was going to get it. then he said thanks to the guy

he proceeded to work his way to the incline bench, saying something about his tripe threat chest routine involving lots of flies. he again talks shit about me when he doesnt think im around and goes and inclines a measley 155 for like 3 reps.

he stayed t here for like another hour, having people spotting him with skull crushers with like 65 pounds and stuff. he said at the end of all his 3 rep max sets: "yeah i should've gone for more, i had at least 2 more in me" and how he "should've started out with this weight..he was just burned out to get it for many reps".

then he goes and talks to the dumbass personal trainers, saying how hes really good at deadlifts since he can rep 405 with straps  . he says he wants a bench shirt and how the smith machine rules.

he also advocated partying till near death on the weekends but then making sure to workout. he said he busts his ass in the weight room all the time but i've been here for 5 weeks and i've NEVER seen the fucker in there EVER.

he said he 'used to be really big' and 'really strong'. my ass. thats probably the first time he was ever in a weight room

i think he was semi-retarded but i've never actually come close to knocking somebody out inside a gym until today. he fucking made me LIVID

Jeremy. . . ignore these type of people. They are paving a path for the destruction of their physique.

All you have to do is focus on your goals.

I think we all witness irritating events in the gym (thats why I train late at night lol), but we have to ignore it at move on.

Sorry you had to see the ridiculous things that occur in the gym. . . . it makes you want to train at home even more lol.

Smiths machines, Straps and high volume Flies.

Now why didn't i think of that!! THat's why my lifting isn't going well hehe

Apologize to him about your terrible spotting, so he will ask you to spot him again.

Then leave the bar laying on his lame ass and walk away............:d

haha, i am actually plotting my revenge for the next time i see him, if he steps foot into a weightroom as often as he claims he does

Welcome to my world. I often get a good back workout by spotting some retard with his set of 135. Today a guy asked me for a spot, so I go ok sure. He starts closegripping 185. First rep, he can't get it off the chest... so obviously I help him get it to lockout, and pull the bar towards the hooks.... the guy starts screaming "I want to do more". So what does he do? He proceeds to do another 7 reps, with me basically upright rowing the 185 on most of the reps. My rotators are killing me right now. So I understand what you mean jeremy. It's a difficult situation.

Why can't people just use weights they can handle?

I couple forced reps here in there is OK, but if you can't complete the first rep. . .the weight is too heavy.

Hey would that be like involuntary manslaughter if ya did that... lol

:D

lol. I have a guy like that at my gym. I hate to spot him, because he bouces so bad and wants his spotter to lift it from him. I spotted him a couple times, and left him to struggle with it and racked it for him. Then I told him to use a weight he could handle and to stop bouncing. Never asked for a spot again.

I'll post a pic of all of it once I get rid of the Smith Machine aka towel rack.....:D

To tell you the truth. . I do have a setup like yours except there is no place to put it. . I am a student on limited space:mad: .

Keep the towel rack. . .if your dryer breaks down you may need a place to hang your wet cloths:D .

I would, seeing as that's about all it's good for, (except the pulley system) but it takes up to much space in the garage. A full set of bands are planned to replace it. I can't wait.......:D

Commerical gym's can help you. Here's my story. I was waiting for a squat rack, people doing curl's there. Old guy jumps in on the rack before I could get there, he puts 135 on the bar which is my first warm up set so I said "can I work in". First mistake. He nails 10 prefect all the way to the floor squats. Nice, I can have some fun here. Next set 225. Old guy does 10 prefect reps again and said " I don't have my belt today so I can't go heavy". Warning sign, trouble in my future.I do 10 reps best form I've had in a while. He slaps another 50 on the bar nails another 8 perfect reps. I do 265 and above at 90 degrees not all the way down. So I can do the 8 reps but I'm about done with the full squat reps. 315, crowd starts to form at our end of the gym. Old guy looks over and says "I'm 69 by the way". I'm fucked! Guy does another 8 prefect I mean prefect reps. My turn. BTW I'm talking 60 second or under rest here. Almost crapped myself and passed out at 4 reps. Neverless to say I'm working very hard on increasing my squat weight. Glad this happened makes me work harder. Found out latter that the old guy seems to like to do this to other people in the gym. Someone said he bench presses 375 or so? Know one seem to know his limit on that one.

Creepus wow, something like that is an inspiration. I had to work-in with a kid once to do deadlifts. At that time my max was about 365, and I thought it was pretty big for my standards. So me and this guy had to share the same bar. I do 225 for 10 perfectly, he struggles a bit. We get to 315, and I do about 5 reps. The guy does 5 reps. So I put on 365 and pull for 1, barely, with worst form possible. I then watched the guy take off the quarters, put another 2 plates ON BOTH SIDES, put chalk on his hands and do 2 reps with 515 pounds. It really humbled me and made me realize how I am only strong in respect to the environment I am in. Just made me work harder.

Scotsman an I have a little song about the way most people lift at our gym, basicly just the mian verse:

From the theme song to "Cheers".......... "Don't you want to go where everyone lifts with shame........ and your never realy glad that they came."

Just a little didity to keep in mind when you see these shamless acts in the gym.

yes.......... im the kinda guy that nobody ask to spot after 1 time. becuase i wont help them do 2 man rows. i give them what they need to get it up for 1 rep. then i rack it. i dont help people do forced negatives. im not their partner. so i spot them. i dont help them reach new levels of burn or what ever. but im kinda rude in the gym anyways so i dont get asked a whole lot. its just i dont look very friendly will lifting so people shy away.

I had a good friend in high school who was probably the best athlete I have ever seen or been around in my life. At 5'10'' and 215 pounds he ran a 4.33 40, benched 430 competition style and raw, powercleaned 345, squated over 600 pounds ect.

one day at a workout with all the usa today all american's a defensive end from florida started talking shit about how he was the strongest guy there and that he could out bench everyone. He put on 315 and repped it. Then he hit 405 for a struggling 3. My friend politely asked if he could try it (405). He lowered it slow and paused like he couldn't do it. When the spotter went to grab it he says "wait" then explodes off his chest for 8 solid reps. He gets up without a word and walks away........that is hardcore

That is fucking badass.

I don't help people do forced reps unless they warn me ahead of time. Basically if they can't get the weight I let it sink back onto their chest until they beg for help then quickly lift and rack it. Almost tore one of my rotators one time when I basically got to upright row 275 for 5 for this kid at the gym.

Cheers,
Scotsman
