Mom???

I was just wondering how close you are with your mom ? I'm not that close to my mom at all... She has always been there for me, but we don't really know each other, if you know what I'm talking about...???
I'm from Sweden but i live in Norway now, three years and counting. I rarely talk to my mother on the phone, but I see her about once a month when I come home to visit. I would like us to be very close, but it's like we're to different to get best friends. I have two younger brothers, but we don't have that " connection " either.:bawling:

But it's nice to be best friend with my boyfriend of nine years !:)

Take care

NF

Well I guess I'll just do that....:)

She's in pretty bad shape actually...
Is that enough or should I post more information to keep my thread here....

Your mom sounds like my Mom, Spatts. She's 5'5'' and 170 too. And she had a hot body when she was younger, judging by pics. But I don't think she ever worked out. Well, I do remember being like 7 and seeing her do those leg lifts while watching cheesy blue spandexed women on exercise videos. My dad's a fatty too now, he's like 275 and 6' but he carries it all in his belly. And my younger sister is beefing up, but attractively so. She has the hourglass figure and wears it well. I have fat people genetics, and yet I'm not fat. Every time I go home my mom tells me I'm thin and my dad and sister accuse me of being anorexic. Strangely, they think the working out weight lifting and eating right have nothing to do with it.

My mom...

My mom is 40 yrs old, about 5'7 and 150 lbs... she's gained almost 30 lbs in the past few months b/c she quit smoking. She is normally at about 120-125 lbs. She's trying to get back in shape, excercising more and eating healthier. She's starting to understand that to lose fat and gain muslce, she doesn't need to starve! She actually used to be really fit, worked out all the time. Pretty obssesive compulsive if you ask me, would stay at the gym for like 3 hrs a pop! I'm really close to her, she's a cool chick. I'm an only child, so she has to like me, it's not like she has any other options :D

My mom is around 135lbs dunno about bf%. She walks 5 miles every day and that's about it. No major other exercise. I don't see her getting into the gym somehow... She has a "fat" complex though, makes comments about my stomach all the time, grrrrr.

We're about as close as New York and New Zealand.

She's a little bit cheese and bread and I'm a lotta spinach and tuna.

My mom and I used to be close but since I moved we have just become very distant. My mom is not very healthy at all but she used to be. Last time I checked she was at 5'2" about 170 lbs., she does tai chi occasionally but battles high BP and various joint ailments. I wish we were close again but she doesnt care one way or the other. :(

Sounds like a lot of us fit chicks have "used to be fit but now fatty moms." My mom used to have a great bod, and weighed about 125lbs, great abs and a killer tan (good tanning genes). Now she is fatty...I don't even know how much she weighs but my dad complains cause she used to be super sexy. Her and I are getting closer...which is nice, every month she tells me she wants to start working out and to help her with her diet...then I go home to visit and see chocolate bars and ice cream in the freezer. Yikes!! :p

My ma died of Lymphona cancer 10 years ago, but she was always a skinny stick woman.

Most all Dutch people are rather tall (ask Robert Jan) and my mother was typical. She was 1.81 meter, which i think is maybe 5 10 in height and never weighed more then 60 kilo, which i know is less then 130 pounds. Never exercized, ate as much as she liked.

Moms brothers and my pa were big men so my sisters and brother are all tall and naturaly muscler. My brother is a lifter too and is up to 260 or so at 8% bf. HUGE.

Hey Norway, i am from so close to you. I come from Groningen in the netherlands. It is just on the coost of the North Sea just under your land. What part of sweden are your from?

Happy mothers day to all! :D :D :D

Don't I WISH! Not really, but I wish my parents weren't so unusually preoccupied with food and prejudiced against fat people. It is nearly impossible to enjoy a meal in their presence without some comment like "this is so much food" (and it would leave even a flea hungry). Maybe I wouldn't have wasted 20 years with an eating disorder. My mother is obsessed with thinness. She's never admitted to an eating disorder (but it takes one to know one).

On the surface we all get along, but deep down this really angers me. I believe our family has a history of depression, but no one will admit to this either, it's just 'Granny had bad nerves' or 'Uncle Joe is moody'. We're the poster family for keeping a stiff upper lip. While I know they've tried their best for me, it hurts that they still don't see depression as a real illness that can require medication. They see it as a crutch and wonder why I can't just "think happy thoughts".

So that's what got me into weight training, because it was my only ticket to eat and live - trading as much fat for muscle as I could but remaining small. Unfortunately where I come from, anything larger than a Vogue model is "too big". Of course not all the women measure up, but that's the look they aspire to.
