milk good or bad?

for some people, they can drink as much milk as they want and not gain an ounce of fat, but some people can drink it and put on the fat just as quick as they drink. its all because of the simple sugar lactose. i am lactose intolerant :( and i dont put on fat easily at all and i drink close to a gallon a day. but because i am lactose intolerant it is like i am in constant war with my butt :mad:
 
LACTOSE IS NOT A "BAD" SUGAR!

Look at a glycemic index of foods.

LACTOSE SCORES VERY VERY LOW, AS DOSE FRUCTOSE!

I hate when people talk about all SUGAR as being "BAD FPR YOU"!

This is simply not so!
 
you're right about lactose except...

Lactose might score low on the GI but milk itself scores very high on the II (insulin index). Which is fast becoming the reference guide used by dieticians and diabetics. Researchers still aren't sure what causes milk to have a high II as the addition or reduction of fat doesn't change it's response on insulin. I personally believe it is the fast digesting whey protein that has such a dramatic response on insulin. However I can't prove it. I will say that milk for me is a great bulking food, the high quality proteins and calories make for big muscles. However when cutting I never seem to lose weight as dramaticaly with milk than without.:)

Milk is known as "natures time released protein" because it contains mostly casein (slow digesting) protein, AND
milk itself is slow digesting, which leads to even a slower release of amino acids into the blood stream.

For those who don't know, milk curdles in your stomach once it reacts with stomach acid.

Ever heard of the "1 gallon in 1 hour milk challenge"? :sick:
 
so maybe while im bulking it is not so bad as it gives me loads of cals etc but when i come off cycle or cut i should definatly cut down or stop?

BIZ, great read....thanks for posting that. i have been telling my friends not to drink milk for a long time because we as humans are not suppose to drink cow's milk. We are the only mammals that drink milk after childhood, and it is marketed by the goverment to keep farmers in business.

IMO, Milk does not do the body good. The only dairy product I will occasionally eat is cottage cheese.
 
BAAAAAH....you people are sheep. So now you think milk is evil since you read a one sided article about it?? Ever read those writups about a horrible chemical that kills people everyday....and it turns out to be WATER?? Geez note that they are talking about whole or 2% milk there. Stick to Skim milk when bulking and you will be fine. When dieting I do agree its best to avoid milk due to the lactose. You can take ANY substance and talk a pile of inflated , exaggerated "facts" about it and make it evil. When I first read that writeup last year it made me laugh, I saw through it right away. Its a clever attempt by animal lovers to demonize ANTHING that comes from an animal. Also note that milk contains EVIL IGF-1......uh...............are any of you dumbasses here actually bodybuilders??? So everything we do is good for us?? Read about how evil meat is. If you followed guy's like Dave Rietz 's advice you'd be 120lbs and a Vegan. Hey I hear steroids can kill you too.............yea really want me to post an article about that?? geeez
 
The protein lactalbumin, has been identified as a key factor in diabetes (and a major reason for NOT giving cows milk to infants).

Um, hate to tell ya, but milk only causes type I diabtese mellitis. This is called Juvenile onset diabetes. What happnes is that the protein is absorbed and the body recognizes a certain protein in milk and destroys it. Unfortunately, the beta cells on the pancrease (the cells that release inslin) look exactly like that protein, so the immune system attacks it.

THEREFORE, Type I diabetes is more accurately known as an autoimmune disorder. And by the way, some cases have been cured.

There is one hole in you argument, but im sure there are A LOT more. Im just not interested enough to find them out.

I could make an argument about why you shoukldnt eat meat that could persuade you to become a vegetarian, however, i could also write an article about how a vegetarian diet is VERY unhealthy (which it is) and persuade you to go on a mediterainian diet. I could write another article (to confuse and piss you off after you read the last 2) that a mediterranian diet is unhealthy due to the fat content. By now you should be getting the point.

Most of these websites are made by paranoid people that think everything is a conspiracy. its all 100% pure Bovine excriment (thats bullshit).

Oh, and one more thing, im sure you eat more shit in your daily diet than one glass of milk. Your hands and fingers regularly have small amounts of feces on them, think about that next time you tuch a door knob before you eat.

Also, those yummy burgers from McDonalds are allowed to have a certain amount of rat feces and other parts of a rat (sometimes they get into the grinder).

I have drank milk since i was young. I drink more milk now that i have been lifting weights than when i did when i was young and i can not remember the last time i got sick, its been over a year! Milk is good for you. And remeber, dont believe everything you read on the internet, especially if the article is one sided and the writer thinks that everything is a conspiracy.
