Doofy - This all kinda depends on your goals. If you're trying to lose weight, dairy fat is something to avoid as much as you can. You don't have to cut it out entirely, but there are other fats that are more beneficial for you.
You'll notice your lowfat cottage cheese is just that, lowfat. But 2% milk, although it doesn't sound like much, is pretty high.
Personally, I have my lowfat cottage cheese in the morning and that's pretty much it for dairy. I'll have 2% on cereal on a cheat day only. But that's me, I'm cutting right now.
