It's irritating and pathetic how poorly conditioned incoming recruits are now. Upon reflection though I don't know why I'm surprised. A few years back Disneyworld had to increase the size of the seats on many of their rides because too many American asses had grown too fucking fat to sit in them. We get fatter and more sedentary with every single passing year.

Bright side though is I'm encouraged that Army leadership has commenced what appears to be a thoughtful reformulation of their physical training regime. If the article is accurate, the new plan has been developing since well before the recent decline in fitness standards of recruits and shouldn't be seen as an accommodation to fat assed lumps. The targeted training and progressive intensity principles make a lot of sense.
