Miked8c's log: 300 and Beyond

Awesome stuff man! I want to know what it was over too though. Did anyone stop you or did your broken knuckles stop you lol? I wasnt implying that you suck at punching I was just saying if you want to get into fights like that knuckle conditioning is awesome because they will grow super callused and tough and you could bash the shit out of concrete and be fine lol!

He was drunk and talkin sht about how i was going to get knocked in two seconds, stuff just escalated. I told him he was 6 ft. tall 165 lbs. and that i would rock him if he tried anything. So he lost it and swung at me, that was the only punch that connected cause i wasn't expecting it, after that it was game over. Stupid fight that i regret over stupid alpha male competition.

nah man dont regret the fight you gotta protect your alpha male status lol! Just regret the broken knuckles I guess...did that happen when you were hitting him on the ground or what? Next time kick when they are on the ground lol1!1!!

I thought it was a good idea at the time i could care less about some cuts and bruises but this is whack. It was totally not worth skipping training for weeks cause of my stupid hand and some gay ego trip.

yeah I guess in your situation i would be fukcing piseed. But when did you injure your hand was it when he was on the ground?

Yeah, I didnt even throw any punches until I took him down and mounted him. He turned away and basically went into fetal when I was on top of him so I ended up punching the top of his head and his forehead instead of his face, this is when I broke my hand.

I can't believe some bean pole tried to get tough guy with you.

Always amazes me how some scrawny fucks think they are billy badass. I've run into like 2 guys in my life that were skinny shits that were actually tough as nails.

The rest break like match sticks.

Next time settle for slappin him upside the head like a bitch while he is on the ground.

Gotta keep the hands safe!

Went to the gym today, very disappointing..

Front Squats( all I could do, had to balance bar on shoulders)

4 sets x 5 reps x 205

Went home and debated suicide. Are there any big weight movements I could do that does not require both hands to stabilize the weight? Should I do the leg press?

I would literally do WHATEVER I could. Heavy ass sets of 3x5 on leg press for strength would be awesome. Just dont go too heavy otherwise you will need to self spot and use your hands. Isnt 4x5x205 the same as you were doing before though? If you have to use machines, do so. Just get those workouts in man

You should feel special T-cock, I just added karma for the first time and it was to this post. Thats so true man, I think i'll just tear up the machines and who knows maybe I can continue makng gains. And yes T-block that was more weight then what I did before the broken hand, its only been 4 days since my last legit workout.

yeah man I feel so special thanks for the 23 karma hit when I have 600,000 hahahha:FRlol: Good work though on increasing your fronts that must have been hard as shit to balance

seriously though you should tear it up at the gym screaming and all and people will be like shit that is dedication hahahaha

lol @ thinking 600,000 karma is alot

yeah mike start gettign psyched and screaming while doing one legged leg extensions it will be funny as hell

Watch out guys, got a high roller over here. This guy must be swimming in karma shtting on all the little guys like me (who in real life are actually bigger).

Yeah man I guess I'll be doing mad leg presses since the one arm squat is impossible.

Lol I didnt say it was a lot I was just laughing at mike thinking I was all priviledged and shit to get his 23 karma :lmao:
southern lord is like a karma god right now, shit he has "226,344,236 karma hits" sweet Jesus!

he can give 45,000 at a time:eek2: But em you arent exactly one to talk for a platinum member 1,600,00 aint much. Still who the fuck cares about karma my deadlift is stronger than yours mike hahahahahahahah thats all that counts. Jk mike I'm messing with ya I hope you get better soon. I'm looking forward to seeing a legit 300 outta you on bench. I just hope I dont lose too much strength in my next trip:(

BTW, mike why cant you do 1 handed squats? 1 handed backsquats will be way easier than 1 handed fronts. Do some 1 handed deads too you can do those for sure

1 handed squats are damn hard balancing the bar with heavy weights makes it impossible.

Everyone knows deadlifts are easier if your a lanky bastard like T-block.

One armed sqauts ( getting better at these)

135x5
185x5
225x3
285x0
135x10
135x5
185x5

Obviously it wasn't the muscle holding me back, it was a lack of me being able to balance the bar.

All that matters is the arm length....height or anything else has no affect. Same with squats and bench....except the opposite. Shorter arms and legs equals lower range of motion on squats and bench, higher in deadlift

This is true but if your taller your arms will most likely be longer allowing you to pull the bar from a higher position with your legs.

I guess I'm just jealous, making excuses haha.

Yeah I have to admit I am very jealous of your squat and bench! If I could squat your poundage I would probably be pulling 500x5 because I am naturally better at the deadlift and with that extra leg strength I could do so more more

Tried some upperbody

Injuries And Bodybuilding 3:00 into the vid at the bottom
Did those with some weight, 4 sets

One armed push ups
the most I could get was 4, alot harder than they look

Pec Deck Machine
3 sets

Abs

At this point I'm just trying to keep my muscles active so they dont go into atrophy.

Damn straight man keep em working! That is an interesting exercise you did btw. Also, I can do more 1 armed pushups than you.....jsut saying:biggrin:

O T-cock what am I going to do with you, just for that snide remark I'll have to crank out a few more next workout.

Check this video, it's one the guys I follow on youtube he has some great videos. Here is his 2nd most recent one, 10 1- armed fist pushups each arm.

I tried some 1 armed fist pushups the other day and they are fucking hard! Plus he's on concrete, must hurt like a fucking bitch:evil:

Oh and mike here's 2 of my favorite videos, the only videos I have EVER seen that have tempted me to stop lifting and only do bodyweight stuff.

That is about as functional fitness as it gets. Just the type of fitness they want for army special ops. Actually in one of the comments it says he was ex-chinese special forces. Interesting stuff

Wow, I wont lie that is very impressive, but the guy must weigh 150 at the most. That stuff is pretty cool I will admit, is that what your trying to get into with the rangers?

Yeah the chinese guy is damn light. The top guy weighs 155 but he is like 5'5 I think. Well for the army in general they want endurance, so cardio and lots of pushups, situps, and pullups. IE run in the morning, then sets of pushups ALL day long. Hard to stay jacked doing that (or get jacked). The thing is I know I could do a lot of that stuff but I would have to stop quite a bit of the lifting. Still how cool is it to be able to show off anywhere haha!

One of the most badass thing I have read is this article about Force Recon pt, Force Recon was the marine corps version of navy seals.

Force Recon PT

If you read the sample trainign day part you see that they ran a minimim of 20 miles a day, with thousand of pushups and situps and stuff. They also frequently did 30 mile ruck runs with 50+ pound rucks. Badass.....

nice to see the improvisation and unconventional exercises. I look forward to continuing to follow your log and hope you heal up soon so you can start killing it. I think that being in the gym without the main lifts will make you want to kill them that much more once you're back.

You have no idea man. I've been off the iron for about a week and already I'm restless, hell I was restless to lift the day afte i broke my arm. Having to tske time off made me realize how much I actually love busting my ass with weights, taking time off makes me appreciate it that much more.

Leg Day

Front Squats

225x5repsx3sets
235x5repsx1set

Mildly impressed with these, they are new to me so maybe I have been able to do this weight the whole time and I just didnt realize it. Next couple weeks I'll really up the lbs. on these.

Leg extensions
3setsx8reps

Got a solid burn, i never isolate legs so i'll feel these tomorow.

Calf raises
1x10
1x12

I'll feel these tomorow also.

haha I like that "the iron bug" You have a cast right? When does that mofo come off?

2 more weeks, I haven't lost weight or mass but I definitely look alot less swole in the mirror than before when I was able to do upper body.

Good thing is that bone grows back stronger so it'll be much harder to get a boxers fracture again in this hand.

You can punch some more motherfuckers out now hahhaha! Weird man cause I lost weight over the trip but I didnt look any smaller....but I lost a lot of strength. I think the kind of mass I have gained from lifting is the hard type that doesnt look huge but it stays

Upper body

-Pull up substitutes with weights

-One Arm Push-Ups
7,5,5,5

Last week I struggled to do a single one of these, the human body is amazing. I did rest a solid 3 minutes on the last few sets.

Hanging Knee- Ups and Decline Crunches w/ Weight

By the time my hand heals I'm sure my bench will be weak but my squat may be stronger due to the excessive front Squats I am doing. Overall I think I will be able to maintain my current appearence as long as I continue to give it my all in these weak ass workouts.

You're sure right on that part man

lol jk I'm liking your workouts mike! You should take a video of those 1 armed pushups. I'm gonna re add those in my routine I forgot how good they are

Dude I need to get a digi camera first, I wouldnt add them to your program though. You need to have a bench press exceeding 275 to do them, sorry man its tragic I know.

How long will your recovery take, buddy? What did the docs say about physiotherapy, etc?

The cast is only on for two more weeks which isn't even long enough to really benefit from physiotherapy. You'd be proud though Andy, I have really been adding the lbs. on my front squat and hav been finding clever ways to work around my injury.

Any suggestions on what I should do for lifting when the cast comes off?

Thanks for asking bro

Good stuff, Mike. What did the doctor say about your lifting though?

I am going to talk to him once the cast comes off. I didnt mention lifting while the cast was on to him however..
Then don't make plans till you talk to him. We can focus on a lot of unilateral exercises because they will minimized strength loss. But on the whole you're gonna have to wait and see what happens.

Front Squats

245lbs.x5repsx2sets

Wierd I could barely do 1 rep with this weight a week ago and now I can hit 5.

I lost focus at this point but figured that since I got my core lift done I could leave, yeah I know weak sauce its just getting difficult to have fun when I keep doing the same exercises.

#Upper Body

-Pull-up Substitutes
4x10 some with weight

One Handed Push Ups
8,6,5,4

Pec Deck
3x10

Machine Lat Raise
3x10

Hanging Knee Ups
2x10

Good Stuff, hanging in there.

yeah man just keep hanging in there. I definitely like your idea of doing this because when you come back you won't have lost that much strength

Front Squats (Work to heavy 3)
1x5 135
1x5 185
1x3 225
1x3 245
1x3 265
2x3 295
1x5 225

Wow... Last rep of my last of my second 295 was a great fight, almost dumped it on the safety racks, my goal is to get 1x3 with 3 plates, really trying to up the weight on these bad larrys

did some leg extensions and calf raises called it a day.

You are a funny man mike. Haha seriously nice work on 2x3x295 on front though. I am following andalite's routine but without fronts, I might have to put them back in.

Pull up subs with 20 lbs.
3x10-15

One Arm push ups

8,8,7

Pec Deck 3x10-12
100,85, 85

Lat Raises 3x10

6 days till cast is off.

So Andy do you have any idea where I should go one I heal, my OH press and bench have probably suffered but not by alot.

1x3 225
1x3 245

Rough stuff, Should have gotten 3 on my first set..

Leg Extensions and hanging knee ups

Cast Countdown: 3 days( not including today or the day i get cast off since i get it off at 8 am)

You know what the biggest buzzkill is? I might need a splint once this cast comes off.

sorry about the splint man heal well! On a good note those front squats are pretty damn strong man

Last workout before cast is off

Upper Bod

-Pull up substitutes

-One Arm Push Ups
10,8,6,6
Could have done way more on my first set. Dope girl was watching me do these so I was motivated to do more haha.

-Pec Fly
Added weight on these also.

Great workout progressed on each exercise, I may have lost strength in some areas but I have definitely made serious gains on front squats( which will carry over to back squats and deadlifts).

Also I have come from being unable to do a single 1A push up to being able to do sets of 8. Overall this injury has not been too debilitating.

Front Squats

1x3 135
1x3 185
1x3 225
1x3 245
1x2 275

1x3 315
1x3 295
1x2 295

Wow each set was balls to the wall. The last rep of 315 took more effort than moses parting the Red Sea.

Leg Press
Mad reps with 12 plates, of course thats nothing wth the leg press machine at my gym.

hahaha @ more effort than moses parting the red sea... you're really killing the front squats dude- they'll definitely have a direct translation into a higher back squat if/when you start them up again

I'm jealous of you deadlift haha.

So heres the deal i'm in a removable splint now which is great because my hand will be strong enough to squat with in a week. Tonight I'll make a video on the muscular atrophy that has occured for it, its pretty noticable.

wow sorry to hear that man! Heres to a quick regain though....you've been absolutely KILLING those front squats man I am really jealous.....I seriously think when you get back to deadlifting and squatting your numbers may suffer for like a session or two but then they will bounce back to even higher than before.

I agree. Actually, to be on the safe side, give it 4 weeks. Then you'll be fine.

Actually I think my squat is already stronger than before my injury, theres no way it could have gone down after such an increase on my front.

On a side note I haven't actually lost any weight throughout this whole process which is actually pretty ill. I think I put on 2lbs. actually. Squats and milk baby.

I'm glad you kept working out with your injury bro. You're a prime example of someone who didn't let an injury keep you out of the gym.

Oh, btw did you see the prom pic i emailed to you?

oh was that the one mike pm'ed me about where it was you and another guy???

If the person i thought is a girl is a guy, he has a hell of a costume.

lmao well played haha! Can't wait to see what mike's numbers are at, as much as I enjoyed my backpacking trip I think I would have had a 500 deadlift and 300 pound bench before I turned 18 if I hadnt of done the trips

Jdid I'll be completely honest that chick is fine haha, you look like you need to get out in the sun a bit more though. BTW good luck with the girl in green.

thanks bro, yeah i'm pretty fucking white lol. Definitely comparable to EM :)

When are you going to be able to do regular upper body lifting again? I'm curious to see how your layoff on heavy weight for upper body is going to effect you..

Front Squats

Working sets:
315x3
315x3
315x1
(failed on second rep)

Great stuff, my hand is almost ready to hold the bar for a back squat. For the next 2 weeks I will embark on a 20 rep Squat cycle for some quick mass gains. lots o' milk, lots o squats, lots o' mass. After this my hand should be ready for some benching.

Back Squat

1x5 135
1x5 225
1x5 275
1x3 315
1x3 365
1x2 405

So I went into these planning on doing a 20 rep squat of 275. Thing is I noticed something was different when I was doing 225, and then when I was doing 275 it became clear, I realized my squat had gotten hella strong. Thats when I said f*** it I'm finding my new max, ideally I wanted to get 405x3 but I'll take the two reps happily.

Just like the floor press, the Front squat helped ingrain the principle that variation in weightlifting if essential for progress. I actually got significantly stronger since I had broken my hand, which to me is flat out shocking.

I guess the big question is how much my bench has fallen behind, although i can't see it being too low considering that I have gained strength on my squat.

Great stuff its days like this that remind me why we do what we do.

Damn man great work on squats! Damn I'm pissed doing all this running and shit....hard to fit in the lifting

Thanks for the support bros, and T-Block props to you for having the motivation to run. It'll hinder your ability to make muscle gains but I can see that for where you want to go with your career its the right thing for you to be doing.

For Squats I was thinking of doing a 20 rep Squat cycle but now I'm having second thoughts. With my front squat I just increased a rep or two each workout but since I was using such a heavy weight with low reps each rep I added really counted.

Should I start trying to work with 405 on squats and just do mad heavy reps like I did with front squats. I think I can flesh out some serious gains on these since I have'nt done them for a month.

So basically tewnty rep squat cycle vs. Single double ands triples reps with progressively heavy weight

All and any input appreciated.

go for the heavy doubles and trips man! Get that squat to 450!

oh and speaking of running, check my log I got pictures of me next to my puke from yesterday's run:evil: I look like shit though haha hard work will do that to you

I agree with Tblock, but be careful if you're going to be going for near max attempts every workout. If it worked this well for front squats, keep at it with back squats man

I would say do both Front and Back Squats in that order. Or perhaps do Fronts on DL day after Deadlifts and then focus on Back Squats on Squat Day. You can go heavy on both days.

For progression, I'd say do not do the 20 rep squat cycle...why the heck would you even want that unless a 20 rep squat is YOUR goal.

So....I think sticking with SDT Type Progression would be good for you for both lifts.

Bench press
205x6

pull ups
5 sets, the most I could do was 10

push ups
these were fine

FUCK MY LIFE.

like 10 pulls ups, are you f'in joking. looks like no upper body really took a toll on me. T-Block You have me on the bench now.. I'm going to go hang myself, later bros.

Alright sweet we got rid of mike! Now I'm the breadwinner on ef hahahhahaha! JK lol mike it'll come back quick trust me. I'm in the same boat.....I keep losing strength, getting it back, then losing it again, never gaining. I did do 255x1 yesterday so at least I can put that up anytime

I am not to worried I am a firm believer is muscle memory, my norm strength should be back within two weeks. for me its more of a question of what I should be doing during that two weeks because my hand isn't healed enough for a full fledged bench.

yeah man. Don't know what you should do.....can you do db benches well? Those would help you get bak your strength a lot. Seriously though awesome squatting shorty those chubby little legs of yours are helping the squat:) lol

Took Jack3d before my workout, gave me an assasin's mentality.

Weight in clothes at gym: 201 lbs.

Back Sqauts (Working Sets)

405x3 Could have eeked out one more
405x2
395x1

Wow, I put on the song "drop the world" by lil wayne and went to work, this weight is legit for me.

Pull Ups

25x5
25lbs.x5
25x5
7xBW

Strength is really coming back on these

Dips
25lbs.x 17
25 lbs.x 7

Still cant believe my squats 2 months ago I could barely get 365x3.

i can't believe your squat strength either man. good work. Sorry if you posted this earlier, but which routine are you using now?

Good question, its the comprehensive " Get into the gym as much as possible before I leave in 2 weeks" Routine. Seriously though I am just trying to get my hand good enough so that I can do some mass movements such as bench and mil. press. Luckily I can squat which is allowing me to continue growing even though I cant do heavy upper body movements.

nice work mike your squatting strength is downright impressive! Damn though 201 is good size at 5'8.

Thanks T-Block, I don't want to put much more weight on though. When I go to PT for mass maritime for two weeks I think I will definitely drop some weight with all that running, I leave in a week. Yeah Double Body weight is something I never got with squat.

Haha cant wait to see your fat ass get in shape with some running:evil: Seriously running may suck dick at first but once you get used to it it is awesome. There's nothing like just going out for a run at night, it is a liberating feeling. Watch the shin splints though, something tells me you are going to get some pretty bad shin splints. If I were you I would start running now, very slow pace 2 miles 3x a week, concentrate on good form relaxed stride.

Ok boys this was my first legit upper body workout since the beat down, but to give you an idea of where my upper bod strength is I'll show you the workout I did in the morning of the day I broke my hand, about a month and a week ago.

OH Press
150x5, 150x5, 145x5, 145x5, 145x5

Weighted Pull Ups
45x3x5 sets
55x1x 2 sets

Unilateral Press
65x6, 60x6, 60x6

BW Pull ups
9,6,5,3

Now I did a workout this morning, it is identical to the one posted above.

OH Press
155x5, 150x4, 145x4, 145x3
Tried to get ballsy with the 155, I have a feeling that if I started with 150 I would have been able to do what i did a month ago.

Weighted Pull Ups
145x3x 3 sets
140x3x 3 sets
140x2x 2 sets

Pull up strength is getting there again

Unilateral Press
65x6, 60x5, 60x4

Really felt how my right arm is much weaker than my left, I easily could have gotten what I did a month ago with my left arm but I didnt want to further the imbalance by doing more reps with one arm.

Skipped the BW pull ups.

I have a feeling that next workout I will pass the weight and reps I did by alot, seeing as I have not done upper body for over a month I think muscle memory will allow my body to exceed where I was before I broke my hand.

Yeah T-Block I know I'm fat, but I'm a f***** meathead!!!!
