Mermaid 2006

depression-cartoon.png

Wry humour there.

Anyway, went to the doc (she's just great) and have decided to come off the meds altogether over the next two weeks and go it alone because I am strong and I have support; diet, exercise, positive thinking and the love of some special people will get me there.

No more crutches and no more excuses. Today is a brand new day.

I'm in love with Cardio Breeze. No jitters, just energy, it's great. Too many carbs today but easing back into it - day 2 of no alcohol.

It will be a good week :)

I tried CB today for the first time woohoooooooooooooooooo!!

Day 3 Tuesday 13 June 2006
Meal 1 - 2 slices rye bread, 1 tbsp almond butter
Meal 2 - 3 scoop whey, 1 banana

Low on cals but didn't feel much like eating today. CB is definitely helping the intensity of my AM cardio. Changed my supps around to the following:

Multivitamin 1x
B6 2x
Extra Vit C at moment to fight off cold
Inkephalin (phenylalanine (sp), tyrosine, zinc) 1 tab 4x
Probiotic (until it runs out) 2x
Sesapure 1 tab 4x
Glucorell 1 tab 4x
ZMA before bed 1x
Cardio Breeze 2x (before AM workout - see how that goes in case I need to cycle off)

I agree Roony :)

Love the bright happy colours SBT :qt:

Day 4 Wednesday 14 June 2006

Meal 2 - 1 cup tuna, ¼ avocado, 2 slices rye bread

Flat bench flyes 3x10x7kg
Bent over rows 4x7 (20, 25, 30, 35)

Calories - 1484
Protein - 160g 44%
Carbs - 119g 30%
Fat - 44g 26%
Fibre - 18g

Was extremely hungry again today, bizarre. Great weight session, PR on pull down though did use wrist straps. With the inclines, I struggle with the 15s but the 12.5s are easy and there's no inbetween. AM cardio in the morning.

Keep in mind ... wellbutrin, is one of milder ADs ... You can do this gurl :)!!!

And I'm sorry , if you need to get in some extra cardio, to vent, DO IT ... I use to run and run and run ... for an hour at least every day, at least ... helped me pound the pavement, clear my head, I also write, journal, draw, etc.... I mean there are so many things to help ... we are here for you :rose:

Good luck coming off the meds Merme! Know that if you feel totally whacky for a couple of weeks, it's very normal. There can be weird withdrawal symptoms.

Hey there Bunns, Treil, Scorp, T-Cake

Badger - Thanks for the luck, I might just need it :worried: :rose:

Flor - Loved the mermaid gif, thanks :qt:

Que - Laughed like a drain at the pic - just suits my SOH. "Laugh like a drain" - where does that saying come from?

Been pretty busy the past couple of days but managed to get AM cardio in as it sets me up for the day perfectly and I don't feel so bad even if I miss the night session.

Thursday 15 June 2006 - Day 5 of no alcohol (and working all weekend so will make it a full week no problem)

Meal 1 - 1 oatmeal protein pancake, 1 tbsp almond butter, 1/2 cup blueberries
Meal 2 - 1 oatmeal protein pancake, 1 tbsp almond butter, 1/2 cup blueberries
Meal 3 - 1/2 cup tuna, 1/4 avocado, 2 slices rye bread
Meal 4 - Um, chocolate :velvett:
Meal 5 - 1 cup whites, 1 yolk, 1 cup spinach, 2oz turkey

No totals as I'm at work and the internet connection is too slow for me to get Fitday as well as EF

AM cardio - 30 mins treadmill, 5.5kph @ 10% incline

So, just had a choccy craving mid afternoon and gave in to it :velvett: :velvett: :velvett: My work day jusy doesn't feel right now without starting it off with 2CB and 30 mins sweating - puts my head in the right frame. Trouble is the CB makes me want to keep going so I might have to get up earlier.

What is with these no alcohol days in all of your logs... do we have a bunch of lushes on our hands :lmao:

*puts hand up sheepishly and nods slowly*

:lmao:

Seriously though, I was drinking daily last year, then reduced it to weekly when I started logging but found that it still had a significant impact on my progress even then. I just think my body does not like it at all. Much better of without it for lots of reasons.

But I still love a good martini :worried:

Martini, every time :) :worried:

I generally prefer vodka martini, shaken, straight up, no olives (either Grey Goose, Chopin or Belvedere).

But if I need the sweet taste, either a sour apple or a cosmo.

Hmmmmmmm, I'd probably take the drink..... :martini:

And a V&T sounds goooood!!! That's one of my favorite drinks!!

Dessert. I don't recall ever having tasted a martini, therefore the dessert would win out.

Then that needs to be tested......just the once...you know for experimental purposes only.....

Name the time and place....

Mermaid,

IP and I (Nelmsjer in IP's account) are sitting here and have just caught up on the last 10 days of your journal. Really, REALLY good stuff going on in your life, no matter what it feels like. I'm more glad than you can imagine about the meds...we'll have to talk about that (good talk).

I'll call when I get back to Iraq, which is going to be several more days. Keep at it, and send me a PM if you have any "urgent" issues that need discussed. I already have a lot of things in mind... :)

We both send you our love and are very happy for what is going on with you. Some very, very good things are coming your way in life because of all this. You'll see. :D

Grey Goose .... mmmmmm.... :verygood:

It was so inexpensive on the cruise/on the islands. Very tempting!!

I hope you have a great weekend, girlie!

Ooooh! I like this game!!! I wanna play! :qt:

Hmm -- I would choose DESSERT... but I've never had a martini (I guess I'm the weirdo around these parts! Ha! :D).

I know -- I will put them side by side... and sample each other back and forth until I can make a final decision on which I like more. :D

I'd be right next to you in the same position! :FRlol:

I have to say my favorite martinis right now are lychee and pomegranate. That's right, as though the alcohol isn't bad enough, let's throw in a ton of sugar on top of that. :p

Sugar = happiness... er, um... I mean...

Sugar = poison to T-Cake's body... Sugar is poison... Sugar is poison... Letting Ulter slowly brainwash me into thinking that... :lmao:

SUGAR IS POISON!!! Like it.

Hey Missy - yes SBT is right insofar as we call a shrimp, a prawn, but regardless of size really. I remember ordering shrimp for the first time in the US and being stunned when I got a plate of prawns! LOL.

LOL @ the martini/dessert talk.

Meal 5 - 2 poached eggs, 2 slices rye bread

Day 7 Saturday 17 June 2006

A free for all. Had to work - stock taking - so meal times were irregular and not that clean. No gym time.

Working again today :( but in the office and have planned meals a little better.

Struggling in my headspace right now and so I tried to fill the void this weekend with food (split over the two days):

3 egg Mcmuffins
1 order hotcakes w/ syrup
2 lamb kebabs
1 large order fries
1 med bag potato chips
1 KFC chicken fillet burger
1 small apple blueberry pie
1 whole bar Lindt milk chocolate
1 banana split w/ chocolate ice cream and chocolate fudge
2 cappucinos

Oh but I took my multivits and sesapure/glucorell - that makes it all better

Let me tell you that it doesn't make you feel better. I'm still struggling in my headspace and also have the added guilt. My hedgehog is back, let me explain: At the base of my chest bone - inside - I feel there is a hedgehog, a small prickly ball that moves. Without meds, it lives in my chest and that explains what my anxiety feel like. It's..uncomfortable. Insane in the membrane :insane:

On the good side, er, "sensitivity" has returned. And when I'm happy, I'm really happy.

Which brings me on to today. I spoke to Q-Tip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My cheeks hurt from laughing so much. Very cool and very happy. (Sorry for keeping you up so late). AND she's going to T's show - YAY!!!!!!! It's made my week

:dance2: :dance2: :dance2:

Ups and downs. Such is life.

Eh, I had a similar Saturday, except I also threw in alcohol and lotsa white floury bread in the mix. But at least we both came clean in our logs about it and seem to understand why it happened. Hang in there, girlfriend :bigkiss:

WOOHOOO!! That is GREAT news! :elephant:

Monday 19 June 2006

Minimal appetite today

Meal 1 - Ready made protein shake
Meal 2 - 1 banana
Meal 3 - 1 WW tortilla, 3oz chicken, spinach, bean sprouts
Meal 4 - 1 apple, 1oz almonds
Meal 5 - 1 cup whites, 1 yolk, 2 slices rye bread

Too tired for totals :sleep2:

3 CB (one too many)
AM cardio - 40 mins treadmill, varying speeds/incline to beat of music

No junk today. Just loved my AM cardio though 3 CB was too much - it lasted all day.

Keep going.... You're doing great.. You have already won half the battle recognizing the eating issues....

You girls are the best :)

Going to post up now as I have a function tonight (DD, Tepanyaki grill):

Tuesday 20 June 2006
Meal 1 - 1 oatmeal protein pancake, 1 tbsp almond butter, 1/2 cup blueberries
Meal 2 - 1 apple
Meal 3 - Spelt pita w/ chicken, avocado and veggies
Meal 4 - 1oz almonds
Meal 5 - tepanyaki (probably steak and chicken)

2 CB
AM Cardio:
20 mins treadmill, 6.5kph @ 6% incline
10 mins elliptical 80rpm @ level 5
15 mins bike 90rpm @ level 6

I'm missing out on weights lately but the need to do cardio is just too strong (run, Forest, run) and I'm being a little self indulgent in that area. Keeping the diet clean - from my binge-fest at the weekend I realise that I just cannot handle coffee and dairy, bringing that back in had unpleasant consequences :worried: and I'm quite happy to leave them be from now on.

Hey, J!!! I'm catchin' up on your log and see that we're still in a "neutral" place....(if that makes sense).

Once you get to Treil's show, you are going to have a renewed sense of why you're doing all this diet/training stuff. You're going to be rejuvenated and chomping at the bit to get to the gym. ......just letting you know what you're in for. So if you feel you're dragging right now, you won't be for long! :rose:

:wavey:

Where are ya, Mermie? Still sick? Regardless, pop in and say hi....this place isn't the same without your wry, sense of humor. We miss you!:heart::heart:

Get the whips out, I'm back.

Monday 26 June 2006

Meal 3 - 2oz chicken, salad, 1 wholemeal bread roll
Meal 4 - 1 banana, ½ cup applesauce
Meal 5 - 4oz tuna, 1 tbsp mayonnaise, 4oz white potato, baked, ½ cup peas

AM cardio – 30 mins treadmill 6kph @ 6% incline

No totals today, not enough protein, too many carbs

I'm better but not 100% still a bit of dizziness/nausea but improving daily
and being back at the gym for AM cardio has really helped. I'll build back up to it. Very busy at work, constant meetings, usual dealings with my favourite boss. At least I get a break soon :)

Meal 2 - 1 spelt pita w/ chicken, avocado, hummus and spinach
Meal 3 - 1 slice chicken and roasted vegetable quiche (not much egg, all filling)
Meal 4 - 1 apple, 1 oz almonds
Meal 5 - 4oz chicken breast

AM cardio – 30 mins treadmill 4.5kph @ 12% incline

Loving AM cardio, good start to the day :) Bought meals 2 & 3 from my now, favourite, organic cafe; you know, gluten free, fresh veggies, organic chicken - it's really awesome stuff. Adds variety to my diet which I need right now. I am sleeping a lot too – just taking care of myself properly, for once.

The body is missing weights though, feeling a bit softer. Will incorporate that back in over the next few days.

Lookin good girl - glad to hear how much you are loving the AM cardio and that you are FINALLY taking care of yourself ;) Looking forward to seeing you under the weights again!! :bigkiss:

I have really lost my mojo :sulk:

As SG said, I think meeting up with the gals in Detroit will help to spur me on again. I'm kinda bored? Does that make sense? Not even looking at everyone's pics is motivating me right now :(

Winter has set in too, dark evenings, cold mornings, not much sun, maybe ther's a bit of SAD.

Meal 5 - 1 slice chicken and roasted vegetable quiche

It does actually make sense. I mean, doing anything for a LONG period of time, eventually brings about boredom. Plus the onset of winter is always depressing too. I think the timing of your US trip is actually perfect. It'll be a nice distraction from your regular life, you get to meet us :D and the weather here is super warm in comparison and perfect for touring the country.

I think it's great that despite claiming to lose your mojo, you've been consistent with the cardio and the food is looking pretty decent too. That organic cafe sounds awesome.

Hang in there, Merm! We  ya! Is it only 3 more weeks before we get to give you a BIG HUG in person???!!! :bigkiss:

Procrastinating again... Waiting for you to get over here and do this cardio for me!!!!
Yes I get bored easily with the same 'ol thing. Ever try just mixing everything up?? Doing cardio at a different time, doing a class instead of a piece of equipment? Switching your weight days around, exercises, plyo's, joining a friend on their work-out, getting NEW MUSIC!!! Buying yourself a new outfit or new shoes that you can only wear if you go to the gym, or reward yourself with something if you get to the gym and hit it hard. All little things that have kept me going through the year's. Time for you to switch it up a bit!!! Yes, we will all motivate you when you get here

:dodgy: :dodgy: :dodgy:

^^lookin for da fishes mojo.....or is that mermjo, fishjo, aquaticjo,

Here's a random thought to ponder:
Ya never see a merbutt on tv or in movies....so how do merpersons poop?

Sorry to hear Merms!! :heart: Maybe your experiencing some Seasonal Affective Disorder?? Get some extra sunlight or get a "tanning" lamp for home & maybe a nice bunch of flowers....maybe that will help.... {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}

Well.

Still in a funk but I'm getting to the point where enough is enough.

Jens, you have some great ideas and I'm going to use them. Roony, you brought tears to my eyes and Treil, you can expect some major slobber from me so be prepared. Que, you're a noodle and I mean that in the nicest possible way.

I think SBT has my mojo. She has enough mojo for a thousand people :)

I need some your vibe IP - just one more rep!

Went out for dinner last night to celebrate P's new job (awesome news). Discovered caprioskas which for a vodka loving lush like me is fatal. Damn.
My boss has pissed me off to the point I almost quit but I'll never let him have that satisfaction. I can't wait to get on that plane.

TGIMMF. One step at a time - I'll be at the gym on Saturday for weights and cardio. Check up on me, please.

Congrats to P on the new job!!! :dance2: Did someone say vodka lush? ;)

Hang in there, sweetie - we will help dissolve that funk-a-roo you're in :rose::heart:

ps - 14 more days...who's counting??? I AM!!!! :bigkiss:

Hey, Mermie, I forgot to ask...what's going on with your boss?

PM me if necessary, but otherwise vent away in here.

I'm a noodle?

Am I al dente' ?

Can I have alfredo sauce?

:p

Didn't gym it today but I walked the beach for an hour. It was such a beautiful day, sunny and warm and I felt I needed the fresh air. Also got a lot of chores done - things I had been putting off for months.

It's 3am and I'm up watching the quarter final of the World Cup = England vs Portugal. EXtra time now - not the most scintillating match.
