Woke up at 10am?!!! Must have needed the sleep. I felt OK and did a kickass AM cardio session and then stayed home and worked. I might miss the worst of this bug with any luck. I missed a PM session at the gym as it closed early being a PH so did some bodyweight squats and some crunches.

I bought the ice cream for P to cheer him up and could not resist two spoonfuls of it (I promise, that's all) Felt like crap for eating it anyway :(

Thanks guys :qt: I feel MUCH better today. Was able to work from home this afternoon and was flexible with timing. Good AM cardio session and later, reasonable lifts though not quite up to par with the weights yet but I think that will come in the next week or so. The diet is becoming much easier as the days go by as I have no incentive to cheat at all ???????? Where is Mermaid??? Bring her back!! OK, maybe not ;)

Now this IS progress!! That's great news...and I think it's extra commendable that despite being sick, you've stuck to your diet. Go Mermaid!! :garza:

The new avi is really cool, btw!

Worked from home, it was bliss. Had no one bothering me and got more done in those 8 hours than I have all week. Weighed myself - still 156. It had better be lower in a month or so. My last pics were April 8 so will post more on May 8.

Pics coming VERY soon! :spin:

Isn't working from home great?! I wish I could do it more...multitasking at it's finest!

Have a good one, Mermaid!

I missed a deadline today. I don't miss deadlines, well not at work anyway. Lots of reasons, not going into it but I am not a happy Mermaid tonight. P (bless him) took me to my favourite restaurant tonight and I had some naughty food (fries) but no dessert and more importantly, NO ALCOHOL, even though I was gagging for a vodka. But that feeling passed after a while and then I was extremely proud of myself.

I'll be working the weekend and going to the gym. P is better, is coming too and will no doubt kick my ass tomorrow. Yay!

I just need to transfer my will at work into my physical life. Then I'd look like Bunny, SG, IP etc ;)

I worked all day. Luckily it was raining outside and P was still too sick to do anything anyway. Mentally exhausted but hopefully I can get the budget submitted first thing tomorrow, pending review. So I missed the gym but honestly, work had to come first today.

Diet clean, still bloated (thanks Aunt Flo - or maybe it IS the pancakes :worried: ) Will miss training tomorrow too as the state where I live has a PH so reduced gym hours and I have to work. Damn, Monday already - it sucks when you work the weekend.

Missed meal 4 because I came home early and slept for 2 hours. I was just so tired! Pollens on the move again at the moment and I find that my allergies tire me out :worried: Plus getting up for AM cardio was HARD, ugh. Felt guilty for not going to lift tonight so did some half assed abs. My diet is so good and I feel very good about that and I even have motivation for cardio but the weights...I don't know...just having trouble getting there.

P is still sick (was improving now relapsed) and while I'm helping his diet, he hasn't felt like training and I guess I have been reliant on him to get me to the gym.

Need my butt kicked ladies!!! Only got 11 weeks to Detroit :worried:

GOOD job on the AM cardio!! Now lets see you move some weights!! :velvett::velvett::velvett:

Good AM cardio session - will increase to 30 mins from next week. Starting to get very hungry which is a great sign. Suffering from DOMS in upper chest. Still planning on posting pics though not much progress has been visibly made to date but will do it anyway because I said I would. I can tell that it's "tightening" up underneath the fat.

Finished work rather late, had to pick up a car for a business trip tomorrow so no gym tonight though still planning on AM cardio and PM weights. Also, travelling from Sunday through Monday - presenting the budget to senior management in Sydney, nervous as all hell :worried: and need to prepare this weekend - more frickin' work. All work and no play make Mermaid a very dull mer-person. Planning on making up for that in July ;)

Must add that I have not had a drink for 17 days - sounds pathetic to most people but a big deal for me. Get through another Friday night and I'm looking at 3 clean weeks. Yay! I am realising that my diet failures are closely linked to alcohol and the cheats that follow thereafter. This is obvious I guess but I have to experience things to understand their significance.

CONGRATS on not having ANY alcohol for SEVENTEEN days!!! :arty:

That is GREAT!! You can make it through this weekend too - BE STRONG!! :dance2:

J - Thank you SOOOOOO much for the flowers. I didn't think THAT'S what you were "sending" - lol

They are absolutely beautiful

For all who don't know.....I was kind of down in the dumps last week and Mermaid said she had something to send me .....so I'm thinking - a little something cute - and I was shocked yesterday to get home and find a large boquet of flowers waiting for me! :twirl:

I loved the card too! 12,000 miles away, but that doesn't matter!!!! Who would have thought by coming to a fitness website you could find such awesome people to call "friends". (((HUG)))

....here they are....

Damn that's so sweet! Its so nice to see the amazing support & real world impact from the often very surreal world of the interweb :)

Great progress M! On so many levels! I'd raise a glass to ya, but I'm keeping my all my bottles closed until at least some time after July. I'll raise a 45 lb DB to ya instead!

WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO for day 17 !! :garza:

I quit smoking on June 6, 2005. cold turkey, no patches, no gum, nothing but sheer willpower and I can honestly say I haven't touched one since.

You my dear Mer-person, have gone 17 days without drinking. Do you realize just how strong you have to be to accomplish that? You've already proven your strength and proven that you CAN do it. You rock.

:velvett: now get them shells movin - you have goals to meet!

Diet was stuffed up today. Had to travel, business meeting and a home builders covention. I took some "snacks" expecting to be able to get some kind of protein while away but that just didn't happen. The only food outlet I came across sold fried food, burgers etc. and I just couldn't go there. So macros are way off.

I was able to leave home a bit later in the morning, so I put on some LOUD music and danced around the apartment for about 30 mins. I really got up a sweat and felt so good. Does that count for cardio?

I got home late but still went to the gym - leg day. An awkward start though....It's Friday night and the gym is not busy. We approach the one and only squat rack and a PT and his client are doing BENCH. We look over to the bench rack and the smith machine and both were empty. OK. So P asks the trainer how many sets do you have left? He says oh mate, we're going to be here for a while. P says, you've got to be kidding right? The trainer says, I don't see there being a problem with that. P says, well I do mate, there are two other machines you can use for flat bench. The trainer wouldn't budge. And then P got that glint in his eye and it was on......

Let's just say we got the squat rack. And had an awesome workout. And got eveil looks from the trainer and his client all night.

P cracked me up - he was ranting (between sets) about how can a TRAINER of all people be so dumb. We watched as the trainer then erected this "platform" with a reebok step and the bench infront of the cable machine and got his client to STAND on the sloping bench in a lunge position and do rope bicep curls. P wanted to go over and say excuse me mate but this ain't the fu<king Cirque de Soleil.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!

The Cirque Du Soleil line is h-i-l-a-r-i-o-u-s!!! :lmao: I cannot wait to meet P. And I'm glad to hear he is feeling much better healthwise too.

Merm, you did good on the diet considering you were on the road. Even if the macros weren't perfect, at least you didn't eat crap and mess up the whole day. And major kudos to you for another week without alcohol....from one vodka lover to another ;)

I am LAUGHING my butt off! Ohhhh....I so wish I had been there for this one. P and I, together, talking to a trainer about the squat rack ..... Poor trainer! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"And then P got that glint in his eye and it was on......" I swear, every time I read that I just keep laughing and laughing. Damn, I missed out on this one!

Dear Lord, I can't wait to see you guys again. :lmao:

GO P!!! I am laughing my butt off, out loud, here at WORK!!! :lmao:

He laid the smack down and gave one swift backhand...I am SOOOO sorry we missed that. :FRlol:

Roony - THANKS! Better share a vodka with me in Detroit to celebrate :)

IP and Nelms - I know, we wish you were there too! You would have just cracked up. P can be so quiet and appears withdrawn at times but when it's on, it's on

Woke up sore - everything below the waist. But had another great workout once I got going. I just have to keep this up - I know I'll see results if I can. Posting pics tomorrow :( :worried: *deep sigh*

Great job on the food and calories, Mermaid! And I have GOT to hear P tell this story in July. I am STILL laughing out loud when I think about the look that P got... :FRlol: :twirl: Seriously, I can't stop!!! :lmao:

Great job on being sore! :velvett: I can't remember when I haven't been sore somewhere in the last month.

Post up them pics chicky! :flash:
Glad to hear P is back up and at it too. :rainbow:

:Perk:

Ok, here they are. The first pics were taken on December 30, 2005, the second set April 8, 2006 and the third set, today, May 7, 2006. I didn't really clean up my diet until 19 days ago, after my Easter "celebration" so the third set of pics really demonstrate a 3 week comparison span.

Progress since December is more noticeable though lately I think it can be fair to say that my a$$ has certainly tightened up.

I'm looking forward to the next three weeks and seeing what else I can do - I'll post up some more at the end of May
