Measuring BF....

Wondering how the average person does it...

I have the Accu-measure tool...but find it hard to believe with only one measurement....

I have more tummy fat than anywhere else...wouldn't that skew the reading?

Thanks

Hope this is a good place to post this Q.

yeah, it's probably off.

if you want you could find a body composition guy/bodybuilder trainer, "guru" with alot of experience. don't get a normal run of the mill trainer. have this guy check you every 2 to 3 weeks.

or

find the hydro-static tester in your area (probably at the health center of a university) and have it done there. not sure of cost.

I just bought the Accu-measure thing too. I got (using that one site test) that my bf% was 20%, NO WAY! My trainer tested it yesterday at under 12%. I'd like to be able to do it myself, but I can't do the tricep pinch myself to do a 3 site test. (i'm a girl, by the way)

YEAH, SDUPDIKE, unless you gained A TON of weight since yourcomp, there's no way that you're 20%!!! I used one of the handheld thingies, and then I did calculations using tape measurements from a book called the "Body Sculpting Bible for Women" and they were within .3% of each other, so I'm going to use both of these every two weeks for an estimate of bf loss.

Biometric elec imped is good but hydrostatic is the gold standard. Here at the medical university fitness center the hydrostatic runs $40.
