meal replacement

I weight about 250lbs. I'm trying to weight train and lose a few pounds. I know that my diet is important, but i find it hard to consume all the required calories daily. I am not able to get meals at my convience, also the meals i do get here are not always the best choices that I would normally choose. I'm looking for a meal replacement type shake that will help supplement some extra calories in my diet and also supplement other healthy essentials I need for dieting. I'm trying to take somewhere around 12-15 calories per pound of body weight, which is 3000-3750 a day. To someone that has struggled with weight loss its hard to convince myself that I need to intake more food and calories, but I know that I'm not taking in the minimum calories each day. I just don't have the time or availability to eat all the time, so I would like to supplement with some shakes during the day if possible.

I'm looking for a good meal replacement or protein shake that any of you would recommend. right now I am taking optimum nutrition protein, but I don't know if I could or should take myoplex or meso tech to help with calories as well.

Thanks alot

maybe the calories that I suggested might even be a little high for me to try and lose weight without tearing down any muscle? I guess I really have no idea how much is enough or what is needed.

if you are trying to cut weight, you need less calories. for your weight i'd say 2400-2800 a day to start. if you dont see results in two weeks, cut more. i'm not much on protein shakes or meal replacement shakes, the proteins are too quickly digesting and dont benefit your body as much as other sources. i try to pre-cook a weeks worth of food on sundays, usually takes about an hour and a half. if you are constantly on the run, try to find foods you can take with you, rather than making those bad choices when you are out. you can put anything in a small tupperware container and take it with you. i usually have an apple and some almonds in my bag/car. if you have a place to warm foods, or a fridge, this expands your options dramatically compared to room temp foods. cool-salads, tuna salad, cottage cheese, etc. warm- chili, chicken fajita, chicken breast and veggies. if you dont have the warm/cool options i'd go with and apple, handful of almods, turkey sandwich wrapped in tin foil, this always worked well for me, or some steamed coliflower and broccoli- takes just fine at room temp.

hope this helps
