That is good point.
However, a domestic pet (could be a pig or a rabbit too) being killed and eaten is against the law.
I believe it really only applies to dogs, cats and horses on a legal level.
Cows, pigs, rabbits, turtles, frogs, snakes, chickens, etc can all be eaten. But, they can't be slaughtered for food in a residential area, and you need permits to have a legal place to do it.
I hunted rabbit and skinned it on the spot in the wild, fired that sucker up and ate it. No big deal.
Can't do that to dogs, cats and horses.
Some states may allow horse, but cats and dogs I think are protected federally from consumption in the US.
I might also be talking out my ass because this is what I think it is, I'm not 100% sure if it's accurate.
