I tried carb cycling, since I figured if it's working for so many others ... well, you learn by DOING, and teach by knowing from experience, so:
My energy was all over the place - crap on low days, and sleepy on high days, and STARVING for more carbs on high days, and INTENSE sugar cravings on low days.
Result: An almost instant reversion to adolescent binge/purge style thinking, anger, frustration, confusion, and extreme difficulty in sticking to the diet, along with the typical emotional stress cycle that goes along with that.
Came to my senses, went back onto straight 40:40:20, energy levels stabilised, mood lifted to almost euphoric levels, and steady fat loss with almost no problems beyond the usual "eugh, I'm on diet" with sticking to it. Hunger is well in check too.
I may have been cycling the numbers too high and too low, so I'll tinker with cycling again someday (when I'm not prepping for a comp), but for now I think carb cycling is best done to minimise fat gain in a bulking phase. Just my opinion, and in my case.
