MA schools in Kansas City

what are you looking for? and do you know what is offered in your area..

your best bet is to visit a few schools and watch how a class is run.

good schools should offer a free lesson and should let you join the first month no contracts.

I am looking for a form of winter cardio that is more entertaining than the treadmill. I do not really want to wear an 'outfit'. I would like to become more flexible. I do not want to sign a long term contract. I would like to have classes with similar aged people (20-30 years olds). I do not want assigned reading. I would like an art that works well for short stocky people. I do not want to break anything with my head.

I think that about covers it. I'm not really particular. I am a 'board lurker' so I have read about picking a school. I will probably visit a few schools within the month. I was just hoping I would luck out and someone that knew the area could help me narrow down the schools to start with. Possibly keeping me from wasting my time touring Belts R' Us school of karate. Thanks for not leaving me hanging, though.

no prob we are here to help but i dont think we have any members from that area.

i would look in the book for any type of jujitsu, wrestling, sambo or judo

some of them do make you wear a gi but after you train for a while you will realize that training in a gi REALLY helps your no gi game.

most of the above styles avoid forms, breaking, reading and work well for short stocky guys and all should have good cardio benefits

a lot of schools turn up when i do a google search that have judo, jujitsu, hapkido, etc but i do not know any of them by name.

ill ask around and do a bit of research for ya..

if you find anything that seems interesting post it up and maybe someone will know about the school

its not just that im bias towards grappling but i really dont have much experience with some of the 'better' striking arts

Wow man if your in Kansas City train boxing!
I talked to some guys there at ring side not to long ago and they have a small thing going now with kickboxing( they might call it MT, i dont know but i dont think that MO, OR KS permits elbows and knees, but i could be wrong) Anyway thats the place to train if it isnt to long a drive.
