lots of cardio, no lifting, will i get cut?

but i've been in a rut for 8 months, heheheh, and for 4 of those months i was on break!

i think its just something about making an extra effort to go to the gym, and hang around after my sweaty cardio.
I guess the thing is I dont mind just trying to get leaner as long as I can do that without doing any lifting, because lifting really blows.

Heheh, it's kind of funny since I said I hated lifting, yet just about everyone on here told me to lift anyway.

did you guys realize i disliked it a lot? or were you just suggesting that I do it anyway, regardless of how much of a pain it is.

I dunno, i guess its just boring, and also it takes either an extra trip to the gym each day or I have to stack it with my cardio, which isnt very fun.

I suppose I could lift for 3 days and do cardio for 3 days, if im willing to cut back on the cardio. thats how i used to do it at one point.

Speaking of which, many of us enjoy the plethora of topics and opinions on chat but have lost interest in max bench due to injuries and what not.

Wonder why there doesn't seem to be a place for guys who into both cardio and some lifting. I like the energy and ease of movement that cardio gives.

I do both pretty equally, I'm more concerned with good health in general than getting huge.

I like being able to run good distances without being winded, as opposed to being huge and out of shape.
 
I love lifting so I can't really understand anyone that doesn't, but either way it's your life and you should do whatever pleases you. Increasing your calories won't help you burn all that much more fat, just concentrate on your diet.

Think about it,

there are 9calories in a pound of fat
there are 454 grams in a 1 pound
so you have to burn 4086calories (9X454) to burn just one pound of fat

Cardio is good for those extra few lbs and to keep water retention down, but diet is more important than cardio to burn fat IMO. So keep what you are doing with the cardio, specially since you like doing it, but maybe adjust your diet.

i'm nursing a leg injury so i only do upper body. what i try to od is HIT style at the moment. two upper body workouts a week. i need to start doing cardio again but the only thing i can do is the air dyne cycle or something in the pool. i have to wear removalble cast to walk in and work in so walking is out of the question.

don't forget diet. nutrition will make or break your program. i'm doin atkins but i don't recommend it for everyone. find one that works for you and stick to it. you can do the lifting 2x a week(two full body workouts and keep the intensity moderate to high depending on what you want) and the cardio as often as you like but do remember to take at least one day off a week completely.
 
sounds like you said you were doing weights AFTER cardio.

You should do it the other way around.... It won't be as big of a pain that way too.
 
Wouldn't it be better to use HIIT cardio 3-4 times a week if your goal is to lose fat? You may be apathetic about weight training, but I doubt you want to lose muscle mass, and from what I've read, HIIT is superior to low-mid intensity, prolonged cardio when it comes to shedding fat and keeping muscle.
 
1 gram of fat = 9 calories 28 grams are in an ounce 28*16=448 grams in a pound *9=4,032 calories. math doesn't lie guys,
