Little things that may prevent you from gaining mass?

These may sound stupid and pedantic, but I have been wondering about the following for a few days now:

1) When sleeping, would lying on a certain muscle group (e.g. lying on your upper-arm) prevent muscle growth in that area?

2) Also, do you know your muscles are undergoing catabolism when you feel hungry, or does hunger have nothing to do with whether your body is being properly fed?

(For example, if I feel hungry, should I eat something straight away to avoid catabolism or would it be okay to wait for an hour or two and then have a larger meal?)

Well, the first question is a bit odd. IMO I don't think it's anything to worry about. Apply pressure on one of your bodyparts, and the blood vessels will compensate to circulate blood and nutrients. For the second question, I would say eat if you feel hungry, I know that if I don't eat I start getting hypoglycemic and irratable, so why wait?

question 2 has been discussed before. i think it's been said that muscle catabolism does not happen even if your meals are more than 4 to 5 hours apart so hunger really has little to do with catabolism but more to do with the fact that you are hungry.
