Life insurance/blood question...

I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with life insurance and being on a bulk cycle. I recently applied for life insurance and I was in the middle of a bulking cycle. I found out today that they have rated me less than what was quoted = higher life insurance premiums - something they found in the blood. I have not contacted the lab since I don't have the number (insurance agent is supposed to get back with me later with lab number). I have a feeling it could be cholesterol levels. Does anyone know if a bulking cycle will increase this. I am a healthy guy with low cholesterol levels in the past and no family history. Lift regularly, eat clean and do aerobics. My wife is now pissed because she thinks its the PH's. Could it be? Any other suggestions on what a bulking/PH cycle could elevate? Any ways to explain situation to insurance company? Just want to be well armed when I find out what the cause is. Thanks for the help.

I forgot to mention: I have been consuming large amounts of protein both from shakes and red meat - could this affect anything? Thanks again!

AHHHHHH! This sucks dick. My insurance agent just got back with me and he said that they found higher than normal cholesterol levels and abnormal liver enzymes. I told him that I am healthy and that I run regularly and eat healthy and weight lift heavy. I also told him that I eat a lot of protein and take supplements. He said that they would contact the lab with an amendment and then the underwriter to see if they will change their mind. I am healthy!!! Has anyone ran into this problem before and did they excuse the results based on evidence that you lift/exercise? Maybe I should stop lifting and become a fat fu*k (just kidding). Any comments appreciated. Thanks.

The liver enzyme could be your CPK which shows muscle breakdown from a variety of sources. It is often elevated for a few days following a workout. The normal zone is 0-100.

Don't know about your cholesterol problem. Was it a fasting blood level?

Consider a retest 3-5 days following your last workout and take the test fasting for 12+ hours. Also creatine use will elevate your creatnine level, which should not exceed 1.

Get a retest. In addition to Utard's ideas, try taking Calcium Glutarate (like in Tyler's Liver Detox) for lowering liver values-Jeff Ryes and Ulter swear by it. Also, try eliminating the red meat, and replacing it with fish. Supplement with Flax seed oil and olive oil as well. The addition on the Liver supps and the EFA's should get your levels down, how quickly I don't know. You may be good to go in 3-4 weeks, which should be good because most docs take so freaking long to schedule appointments anyways :)

Thanks. The test did require a fasting for at least 8 hours. Would the injectable PH's I'm taking increase liver enzymes? I read also that they increase cholesterol levels. Do they increase both of these levels significantly. The lab is supposed to fax the results to me today with cholesterol and liver enzyme values. Does anyone think if I make an appointment with my doc and show him the values that he may be able to vouch for my good health from previous visits - or is this not a good idea? Last time I was in their we talked about PH's and he gave some good advice, but still considered them steroids of a sort. He is pretty cool so I'm not sure if I should meet with him and hopefully get him to write a letter or if I should ask the insurance for a re-test here in about 8 weeks (need to finish my cycle first :) ) Any advice? Thanks.

I have been using flax seed oil and lechithin oil - should these have lowered my cholesterol or does anyone think that it might be high because of high protein intake (my cholesterol in the past has always been low).

8 weeks would be good. Typically injectables don't affect Liver values AS MUCH....its usually orals that reak havoc. I wouldn't mention PH to anyone anymore. Tell your doc you decided against them. If he writes down anything about PH use, the insurance company will get wind of it and you'll be hosed.

I was thingking about what you said and I haven't taken any PH's orally for at least a month. The only thing that I have been taking orally is DHEA (150mg ED). Would DHEA screw up liver enzymes? Thanks for the advice, I'm not going to see my doc after all - How does this sound: I'll probably just tell the insurance company that with my current diet my doctor said that I should wait 8 weeks and see if I can be re-tested then. Can you think of a better excuse that I might be able to use (they may want to know why I want to wait so long)? Thanks again for all the help.

I have no idea if DHEA would cause problems. If in doubt, cut it out. You're trying to pass a test, I don't think going without DHEA for a month or so will kill you.

I wouldn't say anything about diet. I'd say "These values seem unusual. I am a very healthy individual, and am questioning those results. There must have been a problem with the lab work. I would like to take the test again in (x amount of time) to get an accurate result".
