something just occured to me - it's probably been mentioned before :

anyone who's taken high school physics and knows about pivots/fulcrums and stuff would know that the further away from the pivot the mass is, the more energy is required to lift it.

M***^******m

(the see saw in above picture is balanced even tho m weighs half of M.)

so someone with long arms has to exert more energy to do a bicep curl than someone with short arms.

kinda makes u wonder about standards - if i can curl 60 pounds and u can curl 80 pounds, it doesn't necessarily mean your biceps are stronger than mine.

plus if u believe in god then we got souls to boot :D

tis a privelage to be human

I'm assuming you aren't tall, or this would have occured to you by the end of one year of training. This is why the question "How much can you Bench?" has very little reflection of how strong you really are or how much of your mass is muscle.

i'm 5 11 and long limbed so i'm aware of the issue . - jnust thought i'd bring it up coz never seen anyone else bring it up.

6"3 I've put thought into the issue but theres advatantages to each.

Short
When you add muscle its has less place to go so it balloons outward sooner.

Strength is still relative if you can push 10IBs more than someone taller than you. your stronger, I don't care if techinically hes pushing more weight because of leverage. In all practical uses of that strength your strength is still more. In and out of the gym he will always have the leverage problem. (though in some things the leverage is an advatage. I.g. wrestling)

Though it might esier to add a few pounds more muscle. Being shorter means you need to add less IBs for equal looks.

You can put on more mass (for your size) before your size starts turning off some chicks

Tall(basketball build)
Waist looks skinnier in relation to the rest of your body.

Pound for pound you weights are harder to push since leverage is working against you.

Easier to add muscle weight since you have a bigger frame to work with. Even though your 10 extra Ibs of muscle may look like 7Ibs on you. Now for phyical looks and even strength wise (because of leverage) its like you added 7 Ibs metabolism wise and weight wise you added 10IBs

Theres more..... but I stopped thinking about it since who cares you work with what ya got. You don't have a choice so why look to deep into pros and cons.

I tend to disagree. Many tall people use the excuse...I'm so tall that it is harder for me to squat than short people. Disagree. Maybe you do spend more time under tension...but your lever is greater too. Just my opinion.

Kewl, now I have an excuse why I can only bench around 160lb - all because I got long arms. But honestly, who really cares? Long arms help me when I am striking, they give me more range.
