Didn't get much response on the chat board so here goes- my girl and I moved here to San Diego not all that long ago and she needs to find a good OB-GYN doc. How do you go about finding one? Just look in the yellow pages or what? The ones she has been seeing is not good she says.

She should ask other women in her area if they like their doc and if so, she could try one of them. She could walk into the waiting room of a doc. she finds in the yellow pages and just ask a few patients too. She could phone interview with one of the nurses or docs and ask them questions...any good doctor would be willing to do that but she may have to wait until the end of the day for them to call her back.

Good luck!

Besides recommendations and finding one thru an affiliate hospital, she can also do a search. Whenever I moved to a new city I would do a search of providers in my healthcare/medical plan via the policy handbook or via the plan's website plus I also do a background check via my state's board of licensing.

I've done this with other healthcare professionals like dentists, too. Two years ago I almost went to an oral surgeon who was recommended by my general dentist and when I did a background check on him I found a few complaints, administrative and sexual harassment-associated. Do your research.
