Just started construction work... whats going to happen to my muscles?

Unfortunately I just started working construction this week.... chain link fencing to be exact.... and some days are as long as 12 hours.. its extremely rough work... I'm guessing I'm burning between 200-300 calories an hour doing it... thats upwards of 3600 calories a day!

Its so rough, that my body is aching so bad, I can't go to the gym....

I try to eat constantly over the course of the day... and I really won't mind the drop in bodyfat.... but is this going to be extremely detrimental on my muscles once I get used to it and return to the gym?

I have at least 2 snacks between breakfast at 6am and lunch at 11am... and then I feast for lunch... I'm talking BFOLD sytle...
Then I eat the second I get in the door when I get home....

I'm trying to look at this as a blessing as I dont plan on doing it for more than 6 months since summer is just around the corner, it saves me from having to do any cardio and it will definitely cut the shit out of me...

Basically what Im getting at is, am I going to shrink into a puny bastard?
Could this work potentially grow lesser used more neglected muscles and increase my bodies work capacity?

Thanks

i worked construction every summer. I ate A LOT . prolly 6000 cals/day easy. I ate 3 - times at work. I actually grew nicely too.

Doubtful. The only way you would shrink is if you became sedentary, which you obviously aren't doing. I'd be very surprised if you lost anything doing this kind of work. I don't know that you'll be gaining anything either, however, you'll be in some pretty damn good shape after a while. Nothin' wrong with that at all.

man when I worked for a landcaping/tree crew I couldn't lift at all. I was so freakin tired at the end of the day I just went home and crashed. Don't really know what to tell you except to keep your head up.

Yea.. it sucks... I havnt lifted since I started on wed....
I was going to work today.. instead I ate and slept and tried to recover... I'm going to try and do some legs tomorrow...Hopefully

my dorm room mate did construction b/t school semesters..........got a fantastic tan, lost VERY little muscle mass, hardened up like he had been on a fina/winny cycle.

also got quite a few phone numbers of bored, lusty housewives.....followed thru on a couple of them!:p

I have one of the toughest damn jobs you could find1 I select order for a major grocery store chain.....for each order you are given a set amount of time to complete the order...you have to hustle...weight for a given order is listed at the bottom of the order page ...so these weights are not exadurated...I lift 30-60000LBS per day ( 60 would be a really bad day) and walk 6-8 miles ...most people lose 10 lbs there first month working there...fat guys and skinny guys.......and the key to still having energy to lift is ..eat at each provided break..even if you don't feel like it...at least get a few hundred calories in ....most important...do not go home after work ..go to the gym...if you go home you will not want to leave until the next day...also you may find it necassary to cut down the volume and frequency of your workouts..say 1/2 the # of sets per bodypart.

Try being a driller's offsider on an exploration rig....

.... that'll give you a new-found appreciation for your grocery store you never knew existed.
