just got bad new's :worried:

doc says i cant lift for the next 6-8 months!!!!!!! :worried:

i have bone spur's in both shoulder's, and need surgery.

i been seeing a PT for 3 weeks but last visit was friday and we determined that i should seek a shoulder specialist since i wasnt making any real progress, so i did and thats when the new doc told me

i will lose my sanity if im not in the gym tearing shit up!

what the fuck should i do?

Staying out of the gym due to injury is a total drag, bro. It's tough to listen to his advice, but he is a shoulder specialist.

i know good bro

he said i can do cardio

ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that really bites man, no good solution, just think of this as a time to work on body fat, and rest up so you can tear the weights a new asshole when you get back.

I guess somebody finally thought how about some xrays? I know you were dealing with shoulder problems long time. Thats too bad though, best wishes for a speedy recovery. You can still do legs and aerobics.

This is an opportunity for you in a sense.

this happened to me before through other injuries and after not lifitng for about 3 months I became very chubby.

if I had to do it all over again I would have done cardio EVERYDAY DAY, even 2 times a day like I did in football.

You should do cardio and abs for a good 2-3 months and possibly even yoga

Stop doing that...but then you already knew that so...yeah, stop doing that :p

i need to get my shit together starting tomorow.

am cardio and clean diet

Seriuos

wake up tomorrow and just start doing cardio

its thast simple, and might actually help facilitate your healing of injuries

that sucks bro. i tore my acl in may, and i was out, under docs orders, for about 9 weeks. i lost 25 pounds and my strenght is for shit, but im slowly coming back. but to answer your question, you should not do anything to mess it up worse than it alredy is, thats a no brainer. but good luck to ya.

Ideally do this:

Cardio in the AM

Yoga or some type of agressive stretch classes in the PM

it will be good for you in so many ways
plus Yoga classes tend to have nice looking women in them
it helps;)

seriously do you think amplify02 would even help in my situation?

i cant use anything that aggrevates and imflames the tendons around the rotator cuff

perfect time to cut cut cut

all you can do is make the best out of the situation

A02 has incresed my cardio output so as you asked omega above it can help with that aspect......

great thanks boops

i also have lost the ability to put together a clean diet

where should i keep my cals?

breakfast suggestions?

man oh man im heading to the nutrition section.......

bones spurs should always show up on xray I would get a 2nd opinion if the xrays were negative ... just curious how they came up with the diagnosis? u have to watch these guys they make ther living doing these surgeries!

relatively easy for what to eat

the good stuff

keep the first 3 or 4 meals to carbs and portein then the last whatever to fat and protein

examples of combos
can tuna/.5 cup otameal/handfull blueberries/splenda
8 or so raw eggs/2 slices 15 grain bread/grapefruit
2 or 3 tilapia fillets/1 baked sweet potato

veggies can be in the middle here as i transition to my protein/fat meals

2 chicken breasts/ 2 tblspns All Natural Peanut butter
steak (any kind)/.5 cup some kind of nuts
.5 lb ground beef with hot sauce/2 tablspns olive oil

not rocket science bro and im sure you can do just fine with this

good luck

forgot to add that glucorell and sesapure will help as well, i dont work for ulter or anything like that but my body did change when i added these 2 things

Your doctor sounds like a moron,

Get a second opinion

If you have bone spur's in both shoulders, maybe you have to lay off shoulder exercises, and go light on back workouts.

But you still can do chest, arms, abs legs, at 100 %

Where do you live I know a lot of the sports medicine guys practicing in the US

Damn bro best of luck. Yeah you might want to consider a second opinion before going into surgery, but definatley take it easy in the shoulders for now.

You cannot do chest at 100% if you have bone spurs in your shoulder LOL. YOu have no concept of basic human anatomy and physiology. I'm also having a hard time believing that the said poster has bone spurs that cannot be found in an xray.

Excellent point! When I snapped my ankle I could have done some light cardio but I sat on my ass and ate...ate...and ate some more. I went from 180lbs of ripped insanity to 230lbs of pure human shit.

If I had to do it all over again I would have done something. After 6 weeks I could have put my ass on a bike & did upper body but didn't.

Good luck bro and get out and still hit the gym even if it is hitting the cycle machine or something. Have your doc recommend something easy.

I had surgery on my right shoulder.
The doctor is right, you cant work out.
I could not even wipe my own ass with my right hand while I was in recovery.
Could not even pick up a 2lb protein jug with my right hand.
The pain was horrible for a while.

I had bone spurs removed from my knees (along with some detached cartilage) and the doc didn't give me any restrictions. . .I let the pain be my guide.

Make sure that you are seeing the best ortho available.

just had the exact same surgury

he removed bone spurs and cut the end of my clavicle off. The recovery is not too long (compared to having Labrum or cuff fixed, which i have had) so hurry up and do the surgury done.

im 2 months post op and have gove back to light lifting

I have had both shoulders done almost at the same time. My right had a huge bone spur and tear. It had to be cut and I couldn't use it for about 8 weeks. When I could wipe my butt, they did the second shoulder which was a small tear and could be repaired with the 3 holes ( scoped ). Of course the left one rehabbed quicker. Do your cardio and pay attention to your diet. Do your rehab and homework. I came out with more range of motion than before the surgery. Shoulder is strong now but it will take time so don't be impatient and listen to the specialist. He will turn you loose when you are ready. If you start back too soon and retear it, it is back to surgery all over again. Just my past experience and opinion.

Good Luck Bro

guys how much did these surgeries set you back???

I had insurance but I think I still had to pay $1500-$2000 bucks including pain killers, the sling with ice water in it, deductable, MRI, etc. I think my insurance paid 80% of the cost after my deductable.

Injuries suck. I just got back from the gym. Im pretty sure I tore my biceps, not the one Ive been nursing but the other one! The one Ive been nursing for god knows how long is doing great, but the other arm wont staighten past 90 degrees! Oh well, looks like another 6 weeks in a sling and some PT.

forget about the gym and get your body fixed bro, or you will pay for it the rest of your life...................even though you are an EYE PEE fan, LOL, i still feel for ya on this one bro.

Just get it fixed, you got the rest of your life to train!!

just being out of the gym is depressing.

even more depressing whne there is costant pain at shoulder sockets around the clock

If you're unable to lift using your shoulders, this is a good chance to change your focus for a while. Do lots of cardio and maybe just work out your lower body. Martial arts and swimming would also maintain your strength if you're allowed to used to use your shoulders for non-lifting movements. Look at this as a chance to try something else for a bit so that you can come back to lifting with all cyclinders firing so to speak.

You still could train legs and do cardio.. :)

Best of luck to you either way, get healthy first.. And dont worry IP will still be here when you get back to 100%.

sorry tp hear about that bro

hey bro

my good friend had a bone spur in his shoulder. he was seeing a specialist. he had surgery and its been a year now and its absolutely no better than it was before.

sorry for the bad news, just thought id relate a story.

Just lify easy!! I tell you what I am going to tell ya about my brother. He is 38 nowand has raced semi pro mx in new york for 20+years but when he was younger here is how he did it ..
Broken wrist...cast off at 3-4 weeks riding again no problems
broken Clavicle(bone popped right through ski!!) 8 weeks later ridin' again
Broken ankles (4) 3-4 weeks wrapped it up and riding again
He has always cut what the doctor said in 1/3 and is as good as new still to this day!! just go with how you fell good luck

racoon_city said:
did he get an mri?

that fucking blows!!!!!!!
MRI's are more of a guess then anything. I have had several ortho's tell me they are only about 60% accurate. I have had 7 done on myself and only about 1 maybe 2 were accurate

you are too worried about going under the knife. worry about getting a second opinion. xrays show bone so therefore they would show bone spurs not be negative. If theyre diagnosing you of that then they are cut happy. look into impingment syndromes, labrum tears or the good ole rotator cuff dysfunction. 90% of shoulder problems can be fixed without surgery. one of the most unnecesary operations out there, besides carpal tunnel

I have a separated ac joint in my right shoulder and have been taking it easy for about 8 months now and its still not completely healed. Whats the name of your doctor that is a specialist? I am in Houston too and trying to find a good doc that can treat me.

Did you go to your local Catholic Church, drop to your knees and say a prayer on the "ALTER"?

what they like to tell people after the surgery was "man it was a good thing we did the surgery because after we got in there it was alot worse than we expected" just to reinforce the idea in the patients mind that surgery was the right decision, as they look at a painful recovery, alot of silly rehab, potential future problems, etc.

SwolK said:

There are way too many ortho's here and I have been to a few and its just a waste of money to hop from one to another. I still haven't found someone who really has experience with athletes or bodybuilders and can understand the injuries and how to deal with them.
