Haha. Its not really a constest. Its a place for us to all meet up and talk about how our diet is going. I mean I have some competition drive in me like when I see other people having more porgress it makes me want to win by hitting thegym and dieting better. BUt its all for good fun. Post up.But you need pics, routine, diet. stats
 
good workout today... 260x5 for squats, 225x5 bench, and 180x5 rows on my final sets...

numbers might not sound big, but i nailed the form, and needed no help, although i had a spotter standing by on the bench if needed...

i was never a bog bencher, so i feel proud of my lift today...
 
Nice lifts bro!... eh, I know what ya mean with bench. It wasn't til this past year I started taking benching seriously... damn weak chest and long arms.

Rows... bent over rows (I ASSume) does the 5x5 call for 90*, 60*, 45* of "bend" or do you do what's most comfortable. I'm aware 90* is the true bent over row and will recruit possibly the most back (lat, trap, ect)... just wondering what's used mostly for the 5x5 I guess...?
Traditional barbell and overhand grip too?

You should be proud. Nice job DZLS. :) Lifting HEAVY has it's place ... other days, when you nail a set (or more) unassisted with awesome form, it leaves a similar sense of satisfaction. At least I think so ... Keep up the great work :D

nice job dzls. i always said form is more important than the weight. i do as much weight as i possibly can without sacrificing form. that way, you prevent injury.

180 lb dumbell rows, wow!! ive never seen 180lb db before. my gym goes up to 150lb which is the most ive ever seen. the hardest thing for me about going heavy on db rows is holding onto the weight. i can do 120's but the weight kills my hands and the straps dont help all that much. the weights kinda slip outta my fingers so i end up putting it down after about 4 reps for 1 sec and then pound out another 2. we'll see if i can handle 130's next week. i keep promising a lat pic and i promise, its coming.

as far as this thread being a competition, i think its more of a forum for dzls, city, sgt, bunny and me to shoot the shit and discuss what's going on.

this is prob the longest post ive posted in this thread but i have to add one more thing. i was doing reverse barbell shrugs in the squat rack and when i went to put the weight down, i accidentally missed on one side and it nearly missed my ankle. it actually grazed my calf and then hit the floor. everyone around was like, are you alright as i said yes and lifted the 225lbs up with one hand. it took me a couple minutes to realize that if it did hit me, i wouldve ended up being carted out since it would've snapped by ankle.
 
fuck dude. I hate close calls. I have been decline benching one time and was doing my last set. I only had 135 on and was doing negitives... sure enough the last one was the end of it and I COuldnt get it back up for the life of me. Of course no spot with 135.. so I just set it on my lower waist and did a sit up. Embaressing but eveyone knows me at the gym so I just laughed and didnt care. After some squat workouts the next day my knee has felt a little off. Worried that one day they might blow out.. I pray I never have that happen.
 
Everybody is talking about form being more important. My trainer has me doing upper body (15,13,12,10) and lower body (23,21,18,16) each leg, and I am supposed to increase the weights each time? Should I worry at this time if it isn't a large amount cause I am just starting out? I was very frustrated last night even though it was the best I had done since the beginning (third week in) The next phase is bulking so I am assuming it will be even more weight. She gave me this schedule because she said she had to find out if my body could handle the weights and to condition me for the next phase???

alot of muscle memory probably... i mean i was in very good shape about 2 years ago before my son was born... i guess it's like getting back on a cycle after a layoff...

i have much work to do though...
 
Ohhh... muscle memory is nice... I am the best shape of my life right now and its HARD to get big gains. But its comin.

dzls, how do you get the light perfect in every picture. i cant seem to find the right way to take a pic. youve def come a long way since the pic you posted as your starting point. muscle memory def plays a part, as with me, it came back quickly with the help of some "fruit juice".
 
Yes I would like to set up a specific mirror with good lighting. The one in my room is to dark. And mirror closet is to bright from every angle.

I have a friend very interested in your whole diet/training etc... i.e. "That's what I want... how do I get it" kinda thing :) I brought up the 5 X 5 as of late, but the concept doesn't really sink in just yet... . Anyway ...

I dont hear many of success storied from the 5X5 and I see plenty of STACKED/HUGE/LEAN mo fos that just go for the pump. I am not saying there arnt any....I just dont know of any. But i didnt look into it THAT much.
 
Powerlifting (or low rep routines) definetly has it's place in bodybuilding, IMHO.

I used a powerlifting routine this past fall/winter when i bulked and put on some serious mass.... I don't think it's got it's place when cutting/dieting down though, cuz what's the point if you're not eating for gains ya know.
 
Good point. Although I usally never lift much more then 8 reps. Its important still to lift heavy when cutting to keep strength and mass. The only thing i notice is if i get 4000 Cals a day in my lifts go up on a weekly basis and if I eat around 2600 I keep the mass but I dont get stronger. My body seems to be stuck where I am at.... makes me wanna just go back to 4000... but im such a fat ass. At least i might be able to be a strong fat ass. :) Jk JK

haha I know. My brother in law is the exact oppisite and he laughs when I talk about how unhealthy it is and explain it. But he could give to shits what he looks like. Hes married and my sis dont give a fuck. They have been together for a long while now. Haha I havent been counting cals but I try to eat reasonable size meals 6 times a day and get my water in. Like i have said when I get the money for the juice machine.... it will be all hardcore.. and I will become a machine :)

I understand what you are saying ... to elaborate, my reference was to DZLS specifically & his current run of this 5 X 5 ... included would be the side by side progress (awesome BTW ) & how my friend of course thought, "hey i wanna do what he's doing to look like that etc..." :) My friend is more of a *pump* guy, so I don't feel he would be able to stick to a 5 X 5 at this point in time, or have the patience for it, not yet at least :) Who knows :)

i didnt go bad at all. i had a grilled chicken sandwhich without any mayo or ketchup and a hamburger without anything on it and a small french fry. its not horrible, but bad enough.

any of you guys ever read the bodyopus book? im currently reading it now and was wondering if it comes together more in the end. in the beginning, its kinda just going thru things and describing diff types of fats and other diets. im about 100 pages into it.

so far its a great book. ive already learned a lot about my misconceptions while cutting. this book actually says that a 33/33/33 split will achieve faster fat loss than a high protein low carb diet. it also said you should only eat 20% deficit below your maintenance, 15% deficit from food and 5% from aerobics. im only 1/4 of the way through and its a lot of information at once. im def going to have to read this a couple times before it really sinks in.
 
Lot of post in this forum lately... good shit. Missed workout today.. have to make it up on the weekend. Did heavy dumbell presses...felt something funny in my shoulder!?? Err Takin it light this week on any deltoid exercise. Also trying to keep rotating it, Going to get a STD test tommarow....Whores.

NO its my age group. I swear it is hard to find a 20 year old that hasnt has sex with 15+ . I dunno to me thats a lot for a female. And yes men have different standards then women. ;) I dont think i can marry a girl thats fucked that many guys...just gives me the shivers....

I meant your location "your girlfriends house" :) yes, I know guys have different standards, even reading what you wrote, I got shivers (I guess I am old fashion, at 31, ug :rolleyes: . I have 4 kids though, I am way out of that loop now. But being a mother I must say "let this be a lesson, if you know what I mean, whether it go either way" (sorry I know I am lecturing, never thought I would at 31! And you might not be at your best if something is wrong health wise.

yo city, you better get used to it or do what i do, DON'T ASK. you can't be disappointed if you dont know. if i were you, i wouldnt be trying to have a gf right now. no one wants to commit at that age and even at mine. im 25 and i still think the girls my age are sluts. if you think 15 ppl is a lot, you should come to south fl. most girls are def in there 20's or 30's. there is def a double standard when it comes to this but since it works out in my favor, im not complaining.

Age 19
Height: 6'
Weight: 185
Box Sqauts: 295 1 Rep Unassisted.
Incline Bench: 225 1 Rep Unassisted.

Well these are the only i really maxed out so far. I feel my back is too weak to max a deadlift right now, maybe in a month, but im not getting hurt doing any heavy weight in the area.

Ive been reading all your guys progress and there has been alot! Also this is one of the funner threads around.

What's your working deadlift max weight/reps then?

Start doing alot of row movements if you feel your back is very weak. I didn't start doing deads til recently and I have a pretty thick back.
 
I do deads. I get sore for about 3 weeks. Haha it doesnt hurt but I sit for a long time it gets tight. LMAO I wish I couldnt ask. Thats what my buddy does.. it will just always be in the back of my head. NOt looking forward to gettin the Q tip in my cack... Oh well gotta do what I gotta do. Need to get blood work done to before i start my cycle. Oh well I am going to go bang my Ex.... gotta do what a mans gotta do. Got a whole bunch of free condoms at the bar so at least I wont even have to pay for those. I have a feeling this girl will be useful when the test runs threwmy body. I think she we let me play golf-Any whole. ;)

my weight seems to be coming down. the scale in the gym said 220lbs, but my weights are going up. today i got out 305lbs on flat bench for 3 and needed only a little help on the 4th. my left was kinda sore though so i didnt go heavy on incline or decline. the cee is really doing its job. maybe 315 next week.

:) I had an awesome workout! Biceps and back, Have I said, the wrist supports rock! :) Burned 500 calories, finished all my reps and even put a little more weight on then last time. The concentration curls and the t-bar and seated HS row are getting easier to do! :)

conventional stance, doulbe overhand grip no straps...

then i seen 3 other guys doing deads, and almost puked from their form... :(
 
I feel horrible for guys that do bad form deads..... Like i get sore from doing them right and cant admagine how bad that would be for your back to do them wrong... Damn.... Oh well. They should learn fast. Key word in there was should... some fuckers are just retarded and wanna be cool by lifting heavy no matter how sloppy it is. Like the guy that got on the Tri pull downs after me. Bigger in size but pretty much bent over at a 45 degree angle and did like hlaf rep... i dont know what to call them. Prob used more delt that anything. Oh well....
 
Oh to make JMT feel better let me talk about my splurge. How about a half a tray of brownies but with skim milk so its okay :) :) And A BK Jr whooper and 4 piece tender.... but after 2 beers it was good. OH WELL. Fuck im going to get fat again. Had a killer tri workout though! :)

Until my back gets bigger there is no way I could post a spread. My front is a lot bigger then my back..... and thats not saying much. Loookin good sarge. No post some recent front pics....been a little shy lately? To afraid of your girlie friend seeing you naked??
 
gotcha... it's cool, I think my back has just always been genetically there... i just developed a V in highschool and made it thicker over time.

Oh my chest will be destroyed this evening.. I can't wait, i love chest day now. Time to eat... chicken and yams :D

I also like back for that. I just dont like the positining. Usually bent over....and im not comofrtable as some people in that position. ;) But I have a lot of trouble trying to get my last working and less the Inner back. And lower back is fun to do because I love lifting heavy... But I have a bad lower back due to a lot of football and wrestling back in the high school days... Oh well.
 
lol... bent over, don't be :rainbow: . I built the base of my back stickly using rowing movements... SEATED. I shit you not. It's just what I felt really working my lats best. Find a movement that you can really activate them and then DO IT :evil: Doesn't mean you have to take it in the tail pipe ( :rainbow: ) lol.

I hear you about the lower back to, I see a chiroprator 2 times a month on average.
 
I have still found a exercise that REALLY gets my lats....sucks bro. I Think I just need to work them more and get my body to do get comfortable with them then maybe I will be able to get a pump if I work them more consitantly Ill let you know how it goes tonight.

Nope, I make it so I have a hard time just before the last 4, sometimes its half way through, but I push through my motivation is knowing that the next rep is less :) I figure being sore the next day is a good thing, not being able to walk is another :)
 
nice job sgt, backs looking great. have you used gravity boots or an inversion table in lieu of a chiro. i stopped going to mine recently and decided to just do some strengthening exercises instead. its gets expensive to go every week for me. also, when i went, i think i had lower back pumps from the juice so i think i kinda over-reacted. i havent had lower back pain in weeks. we'll see how i feel over the next month.

No, never tried that... i usually, for a quick fix... in a chair with arms on it... hoist myself up a little bit let my back relax and it puts it in line, lol... probaby not the best way to go about it but it helps sometimes.

Have any experience with the gravity boots or inversion table? never tried 'em.

yeah every week would be $$$.
 
i have one of those big balls that you'd find in the gym in my apt and i roll back and forth on it. it really relaxes your back muscles. most people will touch there toes and believe they are stretching there back when in actuallity, they are contracting there lower back muscles. if you've never tried it, i suggest you do. you will feel instantly better. on another note, im having a real hard time eating after my pwo bc of this cee. upsets my stomach a lil bit. time to shove some sushi down my throat. im also happy bc i got to do seated bb military press today. first time in 4 weeks and it felt great.

Hmm... i love PureCEE, what do you administer your dose with? And what do you take 5 or 6 ... or u split the dose?

What works fine for me... take 4 CEE with about 6-8 oz OJ pound some water after ... then about 30 minutes after start sipping my during W.O. shake... never had any stomach discomfort.
 
Here we go... Tracking calories and eating much cleaner is working out AWESOME so far only 1 week in tracking (and cleaned up diet a bit more), time to bust through this plateau.
P.S. I'm done with clen... So Workin' All Natty and not pseudopharmacudical (sp?! lol).

Lower abs are pulling up and in more and more...still there, and those DAMN love handles don't want to fall off yet... still workin', I'm guessing those will be last to go.

oh.. and 191 lbs this morning still 6'0".
