“Every time we do something, you [Shimon Peres] tell me America will do this and will do that... I want to tell you something very clear: Don’t worry about American pressure on Israel. We, the Jewish people, control America, and the Americans know it.”

— Ariel Sharon
Israeli Prime Minister
Knesset, Tel Aviv, October 3, 2001

Whoa! :(

I'm so tired of this argument. All it is, is talk. That's all Americans do... talk. The events that take place in the world aren't real to them. I read a recent interview with Noam Chomsky, and he said that the only country he hears, "What can WE do about this?" in is the United States. In other parts of the world, they are too busy DOING to be asking "what should we be doing?"

So, while the debate is entertaining (?), it is 100% Grade A worthless crap.

You all keep holding your strong beliefs. They will stay right in your head and never translate into action.

So, Palestinians, Jews (it is not proper to call them "Israelis" because the Palestinians ARE Israelis)... what's the difference?

By the way, Tom Delay called himself "an Israeli at heart" today. Want to add that quote to your verbal arsenal? Be my guest.

It is important to see both sides of the coin.

if we were to watch the media outlets, we would automatically side with the Israeli. The talking proves that both sides are viscious animals that need to be placed on a leash.

It is Israeli, not Jews because most Jews do not live in Israel.

That's the thing, 2thick. WHY is it important if it does not tranlsate into action?

"Israeli Jews" should be the term then. But Palestinians ARE Israelis... right?

The Arabs living in Israel are insignificant and impotent. They are not even worth mentioning. At best, they are regarded as "Uncle Tom's."

Effective action is a product of informed people. Blind action is more likely to do more damage.

By who? The homicide bombers? Maybe they are just people who don't want to partake in the conflict and they would rather have a "real" government, with "real" leadership than the rag tag bunch of terrorist leaders that comprise Palestinian "government".

hell there usually isn't even 2 sides to the 'coin',more like a dozen or so..with the net you can really get a lot of viewpoints from people all over the world..they just have to be computer savvy enough to have a net connect..which sadly leaves out most of sub-saharan africa..I could spend all evening searching discussion boards for an actual Liberian viewpoint and probably come up empty, but I'm sure I could find some multi-faceted debate about the current situation there...and a good chunk of it would probably be about how bad America is handling this situation..what we should be doing, what we shouldn't be doing....

This is not a true statement. It has been repeated a zillion times, so it`s thought to be true, but there is no evidence of that.

I will forgive your ignorance of the situation. It is true that Arafat is a man who does not seek the best interests of the Palestinians, but that does not discount the Arab freedom fighters.

You also are quite ignorant of the fact that the fundamentalist Lukid party does not represent most of the Israeli people (who are mostly secular).

Try to do some research before regurgitating the mass media word for word.

I forgive your ignorance, because you obviously did not understand what I am saying...

Israel has a government system where health care, education and infrastructure are available to the people. Some would rather live in this peaceful environment... rather than the shit created by their so called leaders. Unfortunately they have bought into the victim mentality and they will forever fullfil their own prophecy. If they would have bit the bullet and established a peaceful relationship long ago they would have been much better off. They could easily have had their "state".

Try not being a condescending prick for one day...;)
