Is pyramid method the best method of training?

I've been trying something different for a while that's been working, but I'm looking for input.

Workout:

2 weeks: 3 sets x 10 reps (each exercise)
2 weeks: 3 sets x 7 reps (each exercise)
2 weeks: 3 sets x 3 reps (each exercise)
2 weeks: rest/mild cardio

Am I wasting my time? Should I go back to pyramid method?

As a guideline, for mass in specific it's best to perform a few heavy sets in the 5-7 range, and a couple in the 10-12 range for each of the major bodyparts, with each set taken to failure. You should do your low rep sets first, too.
 
I pyramid most of the time and it works well for me. Every set is taken to failure though. Therefore, I'm not making big leaps in weight from one set to the next but it does go up and up. Find what works for you AND what you like. Both are critical for success.
 
Pyramiding is good for bodybuilding purposes but generally not for strength & power training IMHO

I have always seems to get good results varying everything when it comes to rep schemes. I have used a standard pyramid starting light and increasing the weight while lowering the reps and I have also seems to benefit from the reverse pyramid starting heavy with low reps and finishing light with high reps. It seems like both have their place. The reverse pyramid in my opinion is better for strength though because your going very heavy with low reps when your fresh.
