Is any of you working with a company that is laying off people?

Not all of them were inefficient. Some of them made a shitload more money than you did...and they weren't even paid in guitars!!!!!!

A lot of those companies went out of business. I was working for a company that was and still is laying people off. I predict they will be out of business before the end of the year.

Yep, and they paid $3g's a month on their homes too. Money in, money out.

Thanks for calling the IRS and taking a look at my W2. Very impressed sir.

Many are or going out of business. I did some work with a secondary market mortgages company there. All the people I saw were 1) surfing ebay 2) h1b foreigners brough in cheap 3) Well-dressed Manager wannabees with pics of their fancy cars and homes in their offices.

The aura just felt funny. I could sense stress in the air (if one could sense that). I got out of there and went back to doing contract work for a tv network. Much more fun.

we just hired a guy. Investment banks are firing in leveraged finance and structured products, but the smart money (i.e. private equity and hedge funds) is very much in a hiring mode.

I didn't have to look at your W2 (although I thought you were self employed by the way you make fun of people who have bosses so much). You told all of us you made $550,000 last year paid mostly in guitars. And what company pays it's employees in guitars (since you say you have a W2)? Let me know, cuz I don't want to work where I get paid in guitars, as I prefer cash. If you're doing contract work, you should be paid by 1099. Semantics huh?

My mortgage payment is $3000. Guess it's all relative though when you can afford it. $3000 is a pretty average mortgage payment in SoCal dude. You should know this. What's your mortgage payment? My loan is $500K at 6.25%. We refi'd and pulled cash out to remodel our kitchen and family room over a year ago. Yeah, I know I can get a lower rate now, but I have a hybrid Option ARM so I can have the option of a much lower payment should we decide to take more time off for the baby coming in June. Of course we don't need that option, but it's nice to have.

You are right to some extent about some things. A lot of these people (mostly the younger kids who had never made very good money before) went out and wasted money instead of saving and investing. I learned that lesson a long time ago when I was 25, making over $100K. Much like these kids recently. You can't tell them anything either. There's no "flash" in saving or investing money into something that will appreciate. There is "flash" though in showing off your $100K mercedes and $1MM home. Until you can't make the payments. :D

Jesus Christ it was SARCASM douchebag.

Since you clearly dont have the intellect to realize I DON'T HAVE $550,000 IN GUITARS (I mean c'mon, are you that stupid?) - you have zero credibility in everything else you say.

But hey, if "mr ceo" wants to spend all day focusing on me. Go ahead. Makes me feel special.

Me on the other hand: I don't give a shit about you.

So what do you think that says?

Continue the penis fight.

I just started working for a new company today and may become the foreman by next week. Hopefully I'll get a couple dollars over my hourly scale pay.

Is it "Is any of you" or "Are any of you"

We need Smurfwordnasi in here ASAP.

"Are any of you" OR "Is anyone here"

My company made cut backs last year when the new owners took over. Now they're moving Corporate Headquarters to NY (we're in MD) and we dont know if they're also moving out Operations to NY as well. Only time will tell. But I believe there will be additional lay-offs. Hopefully I'm wrong.
