internet muscle vs real world muscle

How many guys do you think lie online about their weight, body fat, max lifts and so on.

I mean I have called guys out in the gyms i have worked out at over the years.
guy claimed he had 21 inch arms I brought a tape and threw it at him and said prove it and that i was tored of his bullshit.
measured 18 cold then he pumped them to 18 3/4
far cry from 21

Guys have claimed to bench over 500lbs raw with no belts , no elbow wraps shirts nothing.
I talked to the gym owner and set up a saturday powerlifting meet with a 100$ cash prize for anyone to break the 500lb bench mark or
and break 1800 total.
(No one pressed over 450lbs and totaled over 1500)

So do you guys think people online lie and if so how much?

Me I know I'm not the strongest or weakest guy or biggest or smallest I fall somewhere right in the middle and I'm not afraid to admit it,but its also what keeps me striving for more.

never really thought about lieing.... i guess i don't really care that much. but now that you mention it i suppose alot do, though i don't understand what there would be to gain from it.

guys have a tendency to exaggerate, period. internet or real life.

now that i have some experience with steroids under my belt i often raise an eyebrow when i read some of the results some guys get. or claim to.

my friend in the army told me he could bench 315 no problem....when he came back home he went to the gym with me.......i told him theres no way he could bench 315....i told him i would give him 50 bucks if he could do 275 once....i gave him a lift on 275 and that bar crashed down on his chest instantly......i had to pull it off of him

I try to keep it real. And can back up most of my claims with pix, vidz, or in person.
Among the elite of the iron sports I'm a nobody, but I've been at it for 18 years. I don't care who you are, if you spend 18 years dedicated to a specific obsesion you're bound to get good at it.

at least when you're face to face with someone it's a little easier to smell the bull sh*t. or to make them prove their claim (as stated by others already in this thread)

Its all about getting the ego out there. I'm guilty, I go to the gym get a few reps on & a sweat up then I whip off my T get down to a stringer. Hey wtf if ya got some muscle get it out there. Fuck it costs enough to get it there in the first place.

I come here to improve. Don't see the point in lying. And I always keep pics handy in case I get called out.

does anyone really care how much you can lift anyhow? maybe a powerlifter. or a highschool or college kid. most of us lift for the asthetic benefits.

true dat. who really cares the only reason i even get on this site is to read what some experienced guys have to say. i mean i got friends that do roids i just figured out they dont know anything about it and i didnt want to risk f'n up my body. so you guys say stats are important i tell my real stats. but you gotta love the i gained 40 lbs of solid rip in six weeks posts.

I think some people think that a certain bodyweight or how much they can lift makes their word more legit on here. I don't think Bill Belicheck can catch a pass over the middle in traffic, but shit, I'd hire him to run my football team.

I mentioned a couple months back how there seems to be a huge collection of 250 pound, less than 10% bodyfat people on this site. Of those claims probably 5 are legit that I have seen in pics.

It is what it is I guess.

The real question should be what the fuck is wrong with people who feel obliged to chime in on every 'whar R ur statz doodz' thread with a list of their measurements.

Some people didn't get enough attention as kids.

A simple BS test - If someone like Justin Harris has 21" arms at close to 290lbs and looking like an IFBB pro, then it's highly unlikely some sloppy Turd on a messageboard who weighs half that (but has a lot of posts) is going to be sporting the same measurements.

It's a lot more amusing in the gym when the fat old dude or the stick come up to you and tell you they used to do 100-200lbs more than whatever you have loaded on the bar, for reps.

i like that too, also they come up to you and "know" someone that's sooo massive and can bench a truck and squat a semi

ok ok ok fine !
I can bench press the bar with 10's on each side like 10 times 4 sets.
I can curl like 50lbs on the barbell but i swing my back cuz it works your back too i was told.
I also can tricep pull down like 75lbs ONCE
and i can do 8 pullups
i dont really squat or dead lift cuz i'm afraid.
and... i dont do legs period because girls don't really care how big you are down there..

No one else besides Powerbuilder?

Someone PM him ok?

I don't feel the need to lie about my lifts, or weight or bodyfat.

I just may not SAY how much I weigh when I am off season and chubby.

:)

The only thing that will have you improve is being honest about the reality of your body, so many people have a hard time doing that.

yea like the BCS and OUs rank. lol

I am sure some people lie but it just seems like a stupid thing to do to me!! It's not like anyone knows you on here so what's the point - plus if your on here for advice as I'm sure most people are (I am) then people can give you the best advice if they know your true stats, lifts etc. Bloody Attention Seekers - lol!!!!

Why do you care?
Sounds like you have some type of ego problem.

What would be the point?

I'm probably on the smaller side in here. 6' 215 lbs at what i estimate to be around 10% bf. Never claimed to be like needsize either. Haven't the faintest idea of my 1 rep max lifts as i never do anything less than 5 but i'm no powerlifter.

My point is this: I get laid on a daily basis. I feel i hold my own at the gym for someone who only started lifting at age 28 (34 now). So why the fuck would i care enough about virtual aqaintances' opinion to lie about my stats?

Don't care
I'm just tired of guys comming up to me blabbering about
" i used to press this , i used to lift that "
or " i have a uncle twice your size"

It becomes very commical and if they want comedy I THROW IT RIGHT BACK AT THEM !
Except I make the joke out of them.
I mean some guys its cool and i know they were juiced up back in the day and some guys have the look to back the claims.

But when bubba joe comes up to me a buck 50 soaking wet and tells me of all these outrageous claims about relatives of his that can press a volkswagen then squat a bus .
I really would actually like to meet the people and see them in person.

Now if someone told me that powerbuilder squated a mobile home and ran down the highway with it on his back .i would prob beleive it .
thats muther fucker is a beast and trains all out balls to the walls.!!!!!!!

Yes. Won't comment on what I'm running as I don't recomend it for others. I will be going clean at the end of the month, indefinetly. Which is why I'll be willing to post pix and vidz with my face included in the future.

6000 calories a day. Includes 25 gr whey protein with all 6 (minimum) feedings a day. Everything except booze and candy goes. Skim milk (#1 food source), cottage cheese, yogurt, ground beef, tuna, chicken, hot dogs, pizza, ice cream, peanut butter, apple fritters, ect. As long as I reach 6000 calories daily I'm able to maintain my bodyweight of 310 - 320.

Day 1: Legs/Abs (key exercise - squats). Day 2: Pecs/Arms (key exercise - bench press). Day 3: Back/Abs (key exercise - deadlift). Day 4: Delts/Arms (key exercise - standing behind the neck push press).
I train 3 times per week. This gives me 9 to 10 days between same bodypart splits. This is VITAL as I need that much time to recover from my deadlift training on Back/Abs day.
On key exercises I lift max weights for up to 5 reps per set. I reach near failure for a single rep on my last set.
On all other exercises I usually lift for 10 reps. Sometimes to failure, sometimes not - depending on mood.

I train primarly for superheavyweight powerlifting competition. Due to injuries I'm now (temporarly I hope) a deadlift specialist.
If your goals are different, then your diet should be as well - lol.

oh LOL i saw it b4 you posted it in n2s thread

My life is to short to worry about guys like that.
I just ignore them, tell them to shut up and leave you alone.

You got nothing to prove and shouldnt worry about guys with short dicks.

Lift on.

this is s great thread

quick anecdote...about 2 weeks ago i read a thread on EF..."stats are 5'10'', 220 lbs, 5% BF, 19 Y/O blah blah blah" or something VERY close to that

some one on here called him out on it, wanted a pic

it never happened. obviously.

that was me......22 years ago--time sucks

Haha, this reminds me of a story of my buddy. His nickname is bullshit willie, go figure lol. He claimed to have 20 inch arms. Now some background info on this guy, He's about 6'3 300lbs and looks like he never worked out a day in his life. Needless to say I brought a measuring tape to prove that I was right and there was no way in hell his arms were 20 inches and needless to say they measured in at slightly under 17 inches. Shocking. I don't see a reason to lie about your stats, my bench is quite pathetic in my eyes but I've never been good at it. I maxed out at 365lbs about 6 months ago and then got a shoulder injury and I'm seriously around 320lbs which I maxed out at 2 weeks ago. I see no point in lying about your lifts unless you are ashamed of what you can do. My bench sux but my squat and deadlifts are pretty good for being only 205lbs. Squat last week was 445lbs and deadlift was 465lbs. Oh and I have what at least I believe to be these tiny fucking legs, which no I have no idea how they are that strong but I used to be a mover so there was a lot of deadlifting and farmers walking with that so thats the only thing I can think of...........if only the damn things would grow to look what they can lift lol.

Something scary about <old fat liars> giving out lifting and anabolics advice...which Im sure there is at least a decent amount of going on around here.

i got three boys doing long time in feds and ill be damned if after two years they arent all benching 350.in real world barely 200.gotta wait 17 years to see with my own eyes but hey maybe by then they will get there

I never BS about my stats, i may throw a few lbs on my bodyweight here and there because it always fluctuates which pisses me off but thats not to big a deal unless i had to be a certain weight for what i was training for and even then im usually only off by 5lbs or so and usually im under what i say i weigh. Here some pics from sept. Not ashmed at all no matter what people say, i've only been at this for about 1.5 years, it will be 2 years in may and i used to be a 145lb twig at 6'.

I see some women at the gym with 28 in arms. It is possible, wait we are talking muscle here. Nevermind.

anyone who believes what anyone on here or another board says, unless u know them personally, or see pics u know are real,.......is a dumb fuck. internet is full of fat, sloppy/skinny dork liers. PERIOD. if it was a requirement on the boards that u had to post a pic of YOURSELF, there would be alot less members. online everone is jacked and 7% BF or less.....
