I'm new, How's my diet?

First, about me: I'm 21 yrs old, 6', 215lbs, not sure of my BF% and i'm trying to cut weight and get my six pack back.

Here's my diet:

8am - 1 cup of oatmeal

11am - 1 tbsp peanut butter on 2 slices of wheat bread.

1:30pm - 1 tbsp peanut butter on 2 slices of wheat bread and a banana.

4pm - small can of tuna and an apple

6:30pm - skinless chicken and cottage cheese or 2 scrambled eggs

8pm - protein shake

I do cardio about 4-5 days a week and run at least 1 mile... I'll be increasing that by 1 mile each week. I do abs about 2-3 times a week. I'm busy working so I can't get to the gym that often but i'm going to try to start getting in there and hitting the weights.

I need some major improvements on my diets and hoping you guys can give me some suggestions. I have a lot of pasta in my house and i want to add that to my diet about once or twice a week but not sure when to eat it through the day. I'm thinking it's better to eat it in the morning then at night.

where are the veggies? i think u need to do some major overhaul to this diet plan.

^^^^ +1

Fiberous veggies, more lean protein, and I hope the fruit is around your workouts, because if not, I dont really like fruit while cutting because of the Fructose. Around workouts is ok but I would limit it to that.

Thanks for the replys guys.

Can you guys give me more actual names of actual food rather than protein or veggies. I have chicken, does that count as lean protein? Does any veggie count? I like carrots, can I just add carrots to meal 2 and 3 and that should be fine?

As far as pasta goes, should I eat any pasta with a light paste while trying to cut?

Thanks,

it almost looks like u r trying to go low carb. and if u are anything Bob Marley lay off the "other" green stuff if u r trying to diet.....lol

Thanks 8and20. As far as my smokable herb goes, i'm trying to lay off that and cut back to just my off days. Does it really hurt me though? I'm still able to control myself and not get the munchies, so I don't go on a eating binge when I smoke.

So, I just went shopping again and I bought some lean meat patties and veggies. So here's my diet for today:

9:30am - oatmeal and a protein shake

12:30pm - lean meat patty on 2 slices of wheat bread
- carrots, and a little cottage cheese

3pm - lean meat patty on 2 slices of wheat bread and a peanut butter sandwich

5:30 pm - skinless chicken an 2 hard boiled eggs and a celery stick

8pm - protein shake, a can of tuna and a banana

Thanks,

@Thread starter...
Remember,
you need protein in each of your meal.
You need fibers carbs and some fats too..

your meals has all it is needed but the problem is they are not in right places..

so make it a point that you take in 30% of your calories from protein and 60 % of your calories from your carbs(complex carbs in most of the meals and sugars are good in post workout alone) and 10% of calories from fats(EFA's preferably)

And it would be better if you try to follow such protein carb ratio throughout all your meals.. Not strictly but, this is just a guideline... To make your diet better..

You can shift your milk related protein to the night ... as casein's absorbtion speed is less and can serve aminos throughout the night..

Weight training:

Cardio has the ability to burn calories... but weight training can fight fats by utilizing them to recover from your workouts... So the fat burning does not stop at the gym and continues.. More over lean muscle requires more calories so that you can eat more..

So when ever possible have a visit to the gym and hit some weights... even once or twice a week can make a major difference..

cheers
