but, I'm 14, 5'10 and 190 pounds and have been thinking about starting deads, but dont know if I should. What do you guys think? Am I too young? I'm its ok, even though I'm into bodybuilding, will it help me work towards my mass gaining goals? Or can someone give me a explanation of the movement or a link to a site explaining it?

Thanks

Deadlifts are awesome. There is nothing like it. Works tons of muscles. I would not worry about the injury aspect of deadlifts as long as you are careful about form. And, at your age, I would stick to reps of 5-8. There is an issue with possible stunted bone growth. If you are still growing you should stick to higher reps. I could explain why if you are interested, but to make it short it could affect bone growth. As soon as your about 18 or so the sky is the limit.

Your into bodybuilding so you are going to be doing reps anyway. It is great for bulking up your gluts, hams, and back. Not to mention make you an all around bad ass..

Sitting here watching a West Side tape...Louie Simmons just said about 10 times...you can not tell if a man is powerful by looking at him from the front. You can tell if he is powerful by looking at his calves, hams, glutes, erectors, rear delts, traps, etc.... Hmmm...and deads work all of these....seems like a given to me:)
