IMO, a person is gay if they call themselves gay, otherwise they're straight or bi ... maybe they've experimented, maybe they like swinging both ways, but it's not for anyone else to define.

I knew a woman who had been with almost as many men as she had women, she called herself gay though. I tried to argue this point with her and said, "THAT makes you bi," she said she wasn't, her reasoning, the guys were just flings, she had relationships with women. For a lot of gay people the defining factor is where they feel an emotional connection or bond. Plenty of gay people have married and had children out of cultural or societal obligations.
