If you could, would you train for the Olympics?

Think about how much they have to give up and what they lose on. Think about the 1984 gold medal winner of the 4m dive and what they are doing right now.

I would just for the 15 minutes of fame I would get ....

maybe I could even do steroids then I would be remembered forever ....

When I was growing up in Houston, my famliy used to let gymnasts live at our house while they trained for the Olympics. Those girls put so much pressure on themselves not to mention what the coaches did....complete jerks.

I used to want to be an Olympic swimmer...lol

worked out well for kurt angle. Olympic gold medal in wrestling. Now on TV every week with a lot of money in his pocket... and he's still wrestling... sort of.

yeah like bella carolli bitch smacking mary lou retton?

That man was a complete ass! He would always yell at the gymnasts and expect them to train injured. He sounded like a vampire when he called our house.

I remember my Mother fighting with him......lol

My parents used to drive Mary Lou to her meets. There was actually a gymnast better than her but she got injured right before the Olympics. I've met Bart Conner, Mitch Gaylord.....and the swimmer....Steve Lindquist :chomp:

I could probably dig some up but they would be photographs? I don't have a scanner. This was back in the 1980's so it's not exactly on my computer. :qt:
Dammit......Did you guys ever sleep in the same beds and stuff??
J/K don't get your knickers in a twist.

I would've loved to play on the U.S. Hockey team. Can you imagine the parties those mutants have. :Chef: :tuc:

dude...your people rock in gymnastics.

lol too much dedication for that. i wanna do something that doesnt require skill... like marathon running in which you just run.

As a Canadian, I would't even consider it unless I had a helluva lot of corporate sponsorship. The Canadian government gives our athletes dick-all, which means they have to have jobs....which means most don't have a prayer in hell competing against athletes who get to train full-time.

Name all the Olympic gold medalist. No google. lol

bro, marathon running may not require much "skill" as such, but to compete at the elite level, you need a great deal of physical ability...that kind of potential which you either got, or don't got. and then comes the hard training...

are you a talented runner?

hell ya

training for mr olympia would be bad ass...

1. eat sleep. train gear pose and tan ( like my fav things)

My buddy from Ohio State is actually trying to get in the 2008 Olympics right now in the Steeplechase.. He just came over to Europe and was running around in some International Meets. He placed 11th in Belgium and broke the World Standard for the Steeple. 3rd American to run under an 8:20 this year.. behind a pro, and another kid from Indiana.. He's getting closer.. He missed the trials by one place at nationals. Kid grew up in Fresno, Ohio. Town of like 34 people.. Most runners in the steeple that win are Kenyans.. This kid grew up in the country.. That's how we do it in Ohio..

Anyways, to see all the training hes gone through.. In high school he was running 9-10 miles a week on top of meets and track.. He got to college, now he's running 70-80 miles a week.. 13-15 per day.. Thats fucking SICK.. Anyways I'm hoping he makes the Olympics because I'll be there if he does!
