If you burn 800 calories during 1 hour of cardio, how much fat is used?

I'm just curious to know how burning calories equates to fat loss. I've been doing 1 hour of cardio at 6AM on an empty stomach for almost 3 weeks now in preparation for my competition. I use the cross-trainer at a medium pace, and after my session is complete, the workout summary indicates that I've burned 850 calories (on average). Is there a way to estimate to how much weight in fat was used during the expenditire of 850 calories on an empty stomach? I know that there are probably many factors and variables involved, but is there any method to at least estimate?

re cardio

there is 3500 cal in one pound of body fat... So you need to findout how many cals your body needs to keep your bodyweight. Then go from there as too how many cals you want to go below per day by cardio and diet to determine how much weight you lose.

LOL!!

Sorry - used key pad and didn't look at it.

Moderate pacing should be roughly 55-65% from fat assuming an empty stomach and low gylcogen stores

Hey SAF,

Bro, I used to be in the same boat as you when competing. I wanted to find out exactly how much calories/fat I was burning and taking in, during conditioning, weights, etc. But unless you are at a exercise physiology lab you will never know. It is so hard to figure that shit out. I don't know what everyone else thinks; but what it ALL comes down to in the end is HARD WORK. Just keep busting your balls doing conditioning, 850 kcals is awesome, keep up the good work. I wouldn't stress about exact percentages of CHO to fat being burned. Anyway, good luck....

You ever worry about the catabolic effects of that much cardio?

Of course, I take Glutamine, BCAA, and FFAA before my cardio in order to minimize any catabolic effects. Not to mention I upped my protein intake to 360g/day, and I weigh about 167lbs :D
