I heard it was ok to have a banana as long as it is early in the day
Bananas are GREAT ... unless you are on a comp prep diet and they for forbidden or something, that is one fruit I try to have all the time...

I wouldn't recommend eating it before bedtime, but earlier meals, absolutely :chomp:

I'm no expert, IP, but everytime this has happened to me in the past, it was an indication that I wasn't eating enough beforehand and my body was holding on to every last bit that it could.

Case in point: I was eating 1000-1200 cals to lose these annoying 3lbs I had gained during a summer on the beach, and for the life of me, my scale wouldn't budge. I went to Vienna for 4-5 days and ate a load of pastries and croissants while there. I was sure I had done some added damage only to weigh myself when I came home to find out those few pounds I had desperately been trying to lose gone. So go figure.....the same happened again when I was in India and ate loads of rich, creamy curries with tons of heavy buttery naan bread. :chomp:

HOW true these words are :qt:

Looking good...glad you back in the gym!

Thanks Gymgurl! It is so wonderful to be back in the gym!

It was so funny, yesterday Nelmsjer and I walked into the gym and just stood at the entrance and took a deep breath in and then looked at each other and agreed that we had missed the "gym" smell so much!! (yes, we are big fat NERDS!!) :p ;)

I just wanted to make it clear that you have the coolest title ever.

Period.

End of story. No discussion necessary.

Thanks RT - I am trying to keep them around 1400-1500 to start out with and then adjust from there. Let me tell you how WONDERFUL it is to be cutting - I LOVE IT!! Plus, they now have a "healthy" section at our cafeteria, cant' say it is perfect, but it is a TON better then what our options were before!! WHOOOAA They couldn't have planned it better, just in time for Nelmsjer and IP to cut!!

I am so glad to hear that you enjoy reading my workouts because I absolutely LOVE reading yours!! :heart:

I have been trying to get around 1400 on non-lifting days and around 1500 on lifting days. Well...today was a non-lifting day. Plus my fat intake was astronomical yesterday!! ahhhh I don't mind a healthy amount but WOW!! :worried:

Good job 1560!!!! And you are freaking??? Man I have no idea what 1560 calories would be like... I think I would feel like I was starving myself. Well in due time :) What is your cutting goal? Sorry if you listed that previous. I guess what is the main difference between this cutting cycle and the last time you cut? Or have you ever really cut before?

Not sure if I have any cutting goals set in stone right now, I have several goals that I would like to achieve...biggest one is being able to reach 9-10% BF. Do you think that this is pretty doable (give my location?) - be honest please! :qt:

As far as calories go, I have been trying to get around 1400 on non-lifting days and around 1500 on lifting days. To answer your question, I haven't really ever cut before...SO, any and all advice is VERY welcomed!!

Given your location I'm sure you can cut... I know how the chow halls are set up and I don't see a reason even if you ate in there because they pretty much have all the stuff (Meat and veggie). Then again are you Army?? I was Air Force so we had the best chow halls. Their meat is usally cooked in oil or butter though. If you can find tuna packs, then you have protein powder, Broccoli/spinach, Plain oatmeal (I remember they served that at breakfast but it was like soup), I think you can even get canned chicken, Beef jerky, just trying to think of all the meat sources. Jerky as some higher levels of sodium though.... I'm sure they have spices there if you are allowed to go off base for you to spice up the food.
In other words I think it is duable you just need to pre-plan. Not sure what your exact job is and if they allow food by the computer terminal if you are on one, but you could always keep your food outside and run to the bathroom and eat your food on the way there and back (I used to do that).
If food isn't the issue then it would be left down to your motivation and if you would be willing to do cardio more often rather then drop your calories lower. It seems mentally easier for you to drop calories then to add another cardio session in. Do what you can!

Thanks Treil - I am actually a contractor and not in the military. I have been eating very clean now since I got back from my R&R (tomorrow is cheat meal though!!). I do work at a computer and I eat about 4-5 of my 6 meals at the computer - hehee! I am confined to base, so I can't leave. I would rather do more cardio then have to drop my cals, considering there isn't much room for them to go down, so that is my plan for now. I will take it one step at a time, eat clean, workout hard and see where I end up. :-) Nelms and I are hoping to be home in time for your show...we are really excited about it (though no promises yet) :)

Just curious...why do you want to be 9 or 10% Are you competing? That is REALLY lean...and not healthy to maintain.

On another note, that 3:30 meal looks gooooood. :p

Heehee - I dont' want to maintain there. I am just the type of person that loves challenges and I would love to accomplish it and say I did it - sort of prove it to myself! :heart: As I realize it is not healthy to maintain, I would come up to about 12-14% for maintenance! :qt: ;)

IP ... I don't compete & I maintained that pretty easily until I decided to move, bulk, etc... Fitness Models can be like that year round as well, they get paid to do that. If that's what you want, it CAN be achieved healthily b/c I speak from personal experience... ALOT of trial & error & tweaking this to fit what works for you... Keep in mind, 10% bf to me, would NOT be the same for you ... I wouldn't worry about that number, but rather what you look like, how you want to look, and be happy with your appearance.

It was a challenge, what I wanted to do, and I did it VERY well ... My $.02

Ah...gotcha, Ice. I say go for it. What fun is life if we never challenge ourselves?

Bunny...how the hell did you maintain that? I can only dream...hehe. And what made you decide that you didn't want to be so lean and bulk instead?

I want to clarify that by no means is it an easy task & something you have to tweak until you can MAKE it work for you... my log is so long for a reason & it's all in there somewhere ... lol I'd have to go back & see what I was doing, eat, training, etc ... but a lot of trial & error and being in tune with you body ... I really feel I knew what to do, when to do it, how much of this, that the other, etc ...

There were several factors that made me want to put on more size :) Plus my body needed a refeed, a nice big dirty one ... :) I'll explain it all some day :heart:

* If anyone has any suggestions on my diet, by all means please let me know. This is my first time through and I am very much learning what works and what doesn't work for my body. I have learned my body fairly well since I grew up as a competitive figure skater, but have never experienced cutting quit like this. I will hopefully get some more pics and measurements taken tonight so that I can post them up tomorrow as a starting point. I have, however, already lost 4-5lbs (maybe more, I will be able to tell in about a week ;) ) I would love to reach my goal by June 5th (9-10%bf) Any input is very welcomed!! :qt:

Yes Buns, I agree with you. BUT, it was my VERY first bulking stage and I know that is not an excuse, but I had a lot of mental issues about bulking to overcome. :heart: Maybe again this winter I will do a HEAVY bulking phase!! ;)

Thanks so much for the complement, I would like to keep what muscle I have and still lean down. It is funny because I just asked Nelmsjer, last night, if he though that I would look too skinny, with no muscle when I leaned down more. :qt:

What are your thoughts on my diet? :verygood:

These mental obstacles you will face if you decide to bulk again, and you just need to work through them as they come. One convo I had with Nelms, related to having a certain maturity level while bulking... by no means am I calling you immature... just that you have to deal with the fact you will most likely NOT keep your six pack, maybe even a no abs at all ...and to expect that.

Anyway, you don't need to explain yourself ... I understand from your previous posts and I'm SURE the ladies do as well. I just want you to be happy with what you have and really understand that the way you look now, is what other women out there hope to look like one day... I think even Q touched on that.

It's all about you being happy, YOU seeing yourself in a positive light & I'm trying to give you positive reinforcement about yourself, because girl you are beautiful ... and you shouldn't be so hard on yourself or worry too much about eating .... stress = ^^ coritsol = fat storage :)

WOW - thanks so much for the reinforcement!! You are right, it does take a maturity level and a confidence level to be able to seriously bulk. I admire you so much in all you do. You are such a wonderful woman and I can't WAIT to meet you some day!! THANK YOU for everything! :heart: :heart:

Hey there, IP! Just stopping in for the first time since you posted your pics! Lookin' good girl!

I agree with Bunny on the bulking statement. My abs were disappearing before my very eyes..lol It was starting to wear on me, but I knew I had to keep working at it and try to overcome the mental. Just when it was time to start cutting, I got use to my "size" and started to really like it! I feel like I'm getting "skinny" now at 122.5.....

I have all the confidence in the world that you are one person who can get this worked out in your head. You're a strong girl! I call them "modes". I have to be in cutting or bulking "mode" and have tunnel vision when cutting or bulking. If I let my mind veer off to the side - I screw it all up.

Happy cutting...and the calories are looking REALLY good! VERY nice adjustment! :rose:

SOrry it took me so long to PRAISE your sexy looking body!!!! Im barried with homework and tests so I havent been keeping up with everyone's logs as much as I should.... oopsie.... but Im all caught up with yours and YOU LOOK AWESOME. Cutting will be a BREEZE for you.... and when you hit up the beach pretty soon... I hope nelms has some big guns to scare off the pervs LOL :p

Thanks for stoppin in SG, it is always so wonderful to hear from you! :heart:

I think that what, both, you and bunny have said is very true. One must get into those so called "modes" in order to survive and succeed on BOTH a bulking cycle and a Cutting cycle. One must have tunnel vision to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks or says, or what the individual thinks about him/herself for that matter. You must know in your mind that you are ok with what you are doing and be ok and in the end, you will look damn sexier then anyone who makes fun of how you eat, look, etc. That is my two cents for what it is worth. Though, as a caution, it is a TON easier said then done...I will try another, more successful bulking cycle in the winter. :)

BUT...for now, I will enjoy the cutting process!! heehee - here's to some bad a$$ cutting! Happy cutting to you too SG!! :friends:

How are you liking the 5X5 work-out?? Pro's and con's?!?

Hey Girl - I am actually doing a 5x7 (due to the tendency of most woman to have a lower percentage of fast-twitch muscle fibers. Therefore, we tend to need a few reps for hypertrophy in the heavy ranges :qt: )

I have absolutely enjoy it....

Positive Aspects would include;

1. Things are different everyday
2. I continue to see improvements and weight increases every week
3. I have put on quit a bit of muscle from it
4. With the limited time we have in the gym, it has been GREAT for us! We get in, get out in a relatively quick time...though with the changing of plates, we have to HURRY!!

Negative Aspects would include;

1. Wish we had more time in the gym :evil:
2. Can't think of any ;)

Hopefully this answers your question! ;)

I have absolutely enjoy it....

Positive Aspects would include;

Negative Aspects would include;

1. Wish we had more time in the gym :evil:
2. Can't think of any ;)

Hopefully this answers your question! ;)
So maybe I missed this somewhere.. sorry if I did. I see that you don't actually post up your routine. What does your split look like and which exercises do you do? Do you keep the same work-out? What factors do you all change and how often?
I'm not real familiar with a 5X5 and I'm just contemplating already what I'm going to do after my show. I may need a change.....

Evening, Ice! Interesting on the 5x7. I'm going to look into that...especially if it doesn't take long in the gym. How long do you usually spend per session?
