You're new ink looks great bro, no homo

I have a lot of opportunities in Lebanon that I can get into. it's not all about the money. I love Canada.

I've been offered to work in a gay bar before, I know someone that makes 700$ a night bartending in downtown toronto in a gay bar

It's sucks when bullsh1t and politics are more important than things like productivity and profitability.

Productive employees that can exceed quotas and make a company money are becoming rare.

I worked for a company like this once. It didn't matter how much money I made the company. They were worried about how well I could make others feel.

It sucks to lose a job but its probably not where you want to be long term anyways.

Good luck finding a good job bro. Getting laid off sucks.

Use it as a learning experience:

Still on probation and already coming in late - strike 1
Text instead of phone call to inform boss - strike 2
Smart ass email about planning sickness in future - strike 3
Telling HR you went to labor board and they were wrong and they owe you money - strike 4 and 5

Yer out!

Hiring a new guy is always risky. Probation is to find out how you will like them. What does a boss like? The invisible employee. He works, he goes home. The boss doesn't hear him ask for anything, doesn't hear his personal problems, doesn't have to cover for his absense, doesn't get messages or phone calls from him, doesn't hear complaints from other employees about him etc.

After this incident (even though it started out minor), they didn't want to take the risk of being stuck with a pain in the ass.

Better way to handle it, don't be late! But if you have to be, call boss, apologize 15 times, and thank her 15 times if she accepts your lateness this one time. Then tell her it won't happen again. Then tell her you are sorry for the short notice.
Then do a good job, day in and day out until they stop worrying about you and accept you. Then, occasional sickness or lateness becomes much less of a big deal.

I've been seeing this happen in the medical field lately too. If the best doctor or surgeon is an asshole or difficult to work with (ie. they don't suffer fools well, and will let the fools know they are fucking idiots when they fuck up), they eventually end up losing privileges at hospitals (essentially getting forced out or "fired"). Then they bring in another doc/surgeon who is more sensitive and makes everyone they work with feel good and people love him/her. If that doc/surgeon always fucks up, doesn't matter...they're a pleasure to work with. That other doc always made sure everything they did was perfect, but they weren't always a pleasure to work with.

As a patient, I know which doc I'd rather have. But lately the care of the patient seems to be taking a back seat to how the other docs, nurses, techs, and other people working there feel.

But wait, wait, wait!!!

We are ENTITLED to sick days and knowing and enforcing our rights, and, and, and...all that stuff! Yeah!

Don't try to steal his voice!

I'm in a management role, and I prefer when people text or email me when they are not coming in. We have "personal days" not sick days, so people can use them for whatever the fuck they want to use them for. I don't care to waste my time talking to them on the phone and hearing whatever stupid-ass story they are giving me.

It depends on the work. In my situation it was always production operations. Short notice absense could cause a shut down. I always required a phone call because a text was just too easy for people who were just lazy and abusing the system. Having to talk to the boss is a small deterent, but a deterent none the less.

In Engineering on the other hand, like you, I don't give a crap if people use short notice personal time for whatever they want. They manage their own work.

Guys, sales is different...it's like running your own business. I was a model employee, until this incident...they started with all the bullshit, I merely reciprocated. I'll work my ass off for you, until you start fuckin with me. I will not kiss ass, I've been very successful before and made 6 figures and never needed to kiss ass....I'm sorry if you feel the need to kiss ass. I believe my university transcripts, my work experience will land me a job where I dont need to kiss ass...it might take time, but It'll happen.

What do you sell, or better yet, what do you know about additive manufacturing?

lol I love you guys

I have an interview on Thursday for a good project manager / account manager position and I'm hoping I get called in the next few days for an interview for a management consulting position with a consulting company I applied for.

So 2 days ago, I msg my manager and tell her I'm going to be an hour late because I'm feeling sick. When I get to work, HR sends me an email asking me if I'm at work. I respond with: yes, but I signed in late. They ask if I had it approved with my manager. I say I msged her this morning informed her that I'm going to be late. I receive a flagrantly rude email from HR saying that I should book it 2 days in advance instead of having people running around and try to figure out if I'm in. I reply with: Next time I predict I'm going to be sick in a few days, I'll book it in advance. I get a flaming email from my manager cc'ing everyone and their grandmothers in management and HR telling me that it's not the way they do thing and my answer is not acceptable. After a few minutes, someone from management waks up to me and says: your manager just called and says ur sick so we're sending you home. Now this company has no sick days and I drive almost 2 hours to get to work, so after I've been there for 30 minutes they're are sending me home even after I decided to get over the fact that im feeling like shit and come to work?

I feel like I'm being forced into something that is not right, so I call ontario labor board and I ask them about my right. They tell me if you are ready to work and at work, despite that you are sick, employer does not have the right to send you home. if they do, it must be a policy (and it's not) Even if you agree to go home, they have to pay you 3-4 hours depending on the kind of business for that day.

So the next day, I talk to hR and tell them about the information and that they owe me 3-4 hours of pay. One day after, my manager calsl me into the HR office and says: we've concluded that you are not fit for this position and you have not passed the probation period.

A little bit of info:

I have hit 200-300% of goal every month since i got hired
My effort numbers are first in the team and top 3 on the floor.

Does anyone else see anything wrong with this picture???

This company is made up of jerks. Jerks at the top and it traverses down.

Looks like they just didn't "like you" and HR just wanted to screw with you and tick you off. And since you were in the probationary period, you probabyl signed something that can fire you for any reason - including simply "angering" them.

Talk with a lawyer/labor board - you may have a right to sue or other remedies. Jerk companies like this get REALLY scared when you lawyer up and send a nasty letter. A good lawyer can drag it out and force them to settle.

Ok first off, yea I am a v.p. second I've made more money in a month than you make in two years. Relax I know what I'm talking about. I was doing business deals when u were still shitting mustard in your diapers.

Well share the wealth orb! I wanna make lotsa money too - stop hording knowledge!.

If you're on probation, they dont need a reason to fire you.

I see this place is still littered with people making 1,000,000 a day and 12 foot cock

You can always move to the states and get a job. Don't have to worry about healthcare here, we have NObamacare. But in America you can miss work all the time and still have a job...matter of fact if you don't wanna work the government will just pay your bills and buy your food. No Shit man.
