I'm not exactly known for my congenial attitude. But I think you did exactly the right thing. I would have had a hard time too, but I always remind myself that these things are really just dick measuring contests and non one is ever the winner when you have your dick hanging out in public. Instead channel that energy into another set, and/or do what you just did by telling someone about it and getting it off your chest.

A guy a lot older and wiser than me once said that "resentments are like taking poison and hoping the other guy will die."

Plus have you ever noticed that guys like that are the ones that would never have any chance getting under your bar? I have yet to have someone talk to me like that who can match or better me in a squat rack. It is always some chicken legged asshat trying to prove himself as a big tough guy by bagging on someone bigger/stronger than they are. That's why it is always under their breath or with other members of the bench and curl club.

Thats the only thing thats kept me from loosing my cool a couple times...

Some old guy wearing boots, slacks and a dress shirt jumped in on my machine once i didnt mind as i was resting but when i asked if i could jump in with him and finish he answers with "im not done yet" he was just sitting on it not even lifting so i told him i was actually on it before he hopped on and he goes "i didnt see your fucking name on it" dear god i started yelling at him and EVERYONE started looking so i composed my self and walked away...

Take the rear choke from behind, he will go to sleep, drag him to the side and finish your set. He wakes up 30 seconds later with no recollection of what happened. Problem solved.

Definitely you did the right thing, and I'd probably have done the same. Obviously you respect yourself enough that you're in the elite group of men who don't get irked enough by fools to go get yourself in a world of trouble. I'm Irish, and I have a potentially BAD temper. But I also have enough common sense and self-esteem to be able to walk away from most any situation, as I don't care what anyone thinks. But if someone tries to get physical, I will stop them from ever trying it again. But I'd never throw the first punch, even if they insult my wife or my mother. It's not worth it. With my mentality, I've survived pretty much everything from school to the workplace and even the Los Angeles County Jail (when I was dumb and age 20) without starting a fight.
