I have a big problem. I want to gain muscle especially on my arms, there way too thin, but generally add muscle all over. but my problem comes with my diet. I don't like most foods. Especially protein foods. I can't stomach oatmeal (tried many ways of adding stuff to it) can't eat it, I don't eat chicken, turkey, or red meat. and I don't eat most veggies. I'll eat carrots, corn, potatoes, (white) not sweet potatoes. I do however like egg whites, tuna, farina, (not oatmeal) peanut butter, Before I started in fitness I lived on egg salad sandwiches, froz. low-cal dinners, & pizza. I'm worried I am going to have to give this up, because all the foods I read you should eat to build muscle I can't eat, or for that matter keep it in my stomach. what can I do ??? I heard if you combine a protein powder with a carb, you can have a complete meal but I can't do this forever, nor can I live on egg whites & tuna ?

Is there any hope for me ? PS: I also hear a lot of eating 5-6 meals a day I can't do that either. I usually eat 2 times a day, and consume 2 protein shakes a day.

Please help a big pain in the butt !!!!

Thanks

hi
I am in some what the same boat as you. I dont like most foods either, but should eat more protein. Some ideas i could suggest to you is mabey cooking your oatmeal then mixing it with chocolate protein powder. What about cottage cheese. yum! take a can of tuna and put about two heeping spoon fulls of cottage cheese, pop in mic for a min and a half and mix. Thats good too. Try eating some trail mix that you like. Ok thats all i can think of. Good luck, I know you can do it.

Have you tried marinading chicken (or other meats) to add flavour? What about Cream of Wheat for breakfast as a carb? (the stuff honestly doesn't taste like anything...) Fish are always an excellent source of protein, not to mention health benefits from some of the oils in fish (but I wouldn't eat too much of fish that are high in magnesium--I know they warn against that for pregnant women, but too much of it can't be good for anyone.) You can also hard boil eggs and eat them as a snack or cut up and mixed with other stuff.

Don't go more than 2 protein shakes/day, though. You want the majority of your protein to be coming from natural sources.

Thanks. I will try to marinate some chicken in different things. I really don't like fish though, but I really like shrimp. I can't stand cream of wheat, the only hot cereal I'll eat is farina, Is this ok for my carbs ? oh, & I love hard boiled eggs. I eat a lot of eggs, & I totally love bananas !!!!! I don't have more than 2 shakes a day, but sometimes I will have a shake with a bananna & 1 or 2 eggs and that will be my lunch or dinner.

By the way, how much protein is in an egg ? and how many should be eaten at a time ?

i was in the same sitch. To reach my goals i just sucked it up and followed a proper diet wich was very bland. bye the 3rd month i wasent even thinking about the food i was eating it just became routine. try diffirent seasinings, I know its hard but thats how youll get your resaults. i reached my goal in 6 month.

Well, the only advice I can give you is to decide what you want more. If eating a certain way will get you what you want, then that's what you have to do.....Otherwise you won't reach your goals.....plus eating such a limited amount of foods is neither healthy, nor nutritious.....

Why?? Don't protein shakes contain top quality protein?

I weigh 127, and I consume 90-95 grams of protein from protein shakes, 40-50 grams from whole foods.... is there anything wrong with doing this? :worried:

Most protein shakes contain good quality protein, BUT, NOTHING replaces real food. Real food is the MOST anabolic substance you can use. Supplements are NO substitute for real food. Protein shakes should be used to SUPPLEMENT a clean diet, not be the focus of it.

I would swich your percentages of protein sources. The vast majority of protein intake should be from real food.

Well i hate to break it to ya your going to have to learn to like them! once you eat them all the time you'll start to like them. Youll get used to it. You must eat lots of protein in order to gain muscle.

Make a list of clean healthy food that you DO like? Try working with that.
Then again you have choices: "Do I want to change my body?" Then suck it up and learn to like clean food choices. Remember that "real food" is better than supplements.
Also remember that there is no "bad foods" everything in moderation. It's a lifestyle not a diet.
