I can't use dumbells for chest anymore.. Why??

Ok, here's the problem i'm having.

Just recently I've switched to using dumbells for all my chest exercises, hoping to gain more muscle because it lacks big time.

I've been doing this for about a month now, and just recently, everytime i'm doing incline Db press, or any DB's for that matter, my arms just give out at 4-6 reps. I thought it was in my head, but it's not. I try to push, but they just fail me. For instance, I use 85lbs in each hand on Incline DB press, and it feels like nothing (because I can do 110+) but no matter what, my arms just give out, not my chest, but my arms. I get no workout from it whatsoever. It was never a problem before, but now it's just ridiculous.

I'm not sure if I need to strengthen my arms, or what not, but I don't think so. They've been getting stronger as the days progress, and increasing in size for that matter. So it sounds a little absurd.

I can bench press no problem, I look forward to that now. I'm considering just using Incline BP, rather then DP.

Is there anything I can do to strengthen my arms? I feel DB give me a better pump.

Its probably due to your tricep giving out or maybe your rotary cuffs?

depends on how you do em. Try with a wider flye style motion to use more pecs.

I am going to guess that this is a form issue. In any case, have you tried pre-exhausting the pecs with an isolation movement first? Sometimes this can actually function to recruit those muscles better.

Congratulations! You've discovered a weakness. Now pin-point it and work to overcome your weak link. Strength is your reward.

Thanks for the input guys.

It may be my rotor cuff.. That seems like it could be the problem.

How would I strengthen that?

Read Spatterson's post on Active Recovery on the Women's board...twice!!!! Save every pic.

Do a big search on rotator cuff work...ask Hannibal, Spatterson, etc...
