Human Resistance

To finish off my workout I tried having someone oppose me on preacher curls (pushing down with leverage). It is the fad in my gym at the time, figured it was worth a try. The opponent eases up on contraction and goes all out on down phase. It felt like a static hold, or more of a negative. It didnt really feel like work was being done. Anybody got any theories or experience with the usefulness of such an exercise?

I've done them and they're a good change up assuming your spotter knows what he/she is doing. And yes, it's mainly done as a "negative" excercise. Don't do them if your bis are out of shape. They can be killers.

Reminds me too much of nautilaus, but gets you a good pump. Can realy get the veins going and arms working, unless the guy giving you resistance is a prick and has to prove himself
