How Swore Do Your Legs Get?

I switched to a new leg routine last week. I trained on saturday and today my calves, quads and thighs are still killing me. I feel actual pain more than the regular sworeness im used to. Im wondering if I hit them too hard or is this what it should be like. After my routine saturday, the rest of the day i could hardly stand up from a sitting position. my legs wouldn't work. are any of you guys like that after your squat and press days? to the point where your legs are literally jello for the remainder of the day?

Just curious.

swain, I think if you need crutches than you are definitely overtraining tham. I take it right to the edge, just stimulate growth and go home. some people wear their soreness as a medal though. I had a buddy that used to hobble around the office, just waiting for someone to ask him about it so he could say how much he squatted last night. I just found I wasnt recovering, still sore from the last workout. just my $.02...

scaggs, a new routine will always do that to me. got to keep those muscles guessing...:)

I am not overtraining them. . .I use 2 sets for quads. . .the lactic acid buildup, irritated nerve endings, and muscle fiber damage is what causes the extreme soreness. . .it usually passes after 2 days. I recover fast, since I follow a low volume program.

Leg day was last friday, I'm finally almost better. Today is by far my best day since. So it takes me four full days to recover. The soreness is terrible and it is hard to walk, but mainly just when first getting up. After that bending down is the most painful experience.

wow - 2 sets and you need to use crutches. that is puzzling if done in straight set fashion. does the rest of your body react similarly to the iron? I'm aware of what causes muscle soreness :)

I take all sets way beyond failure.

I use one set per bodypart (except for legs - 2 sets)

Of course, I include 3 light warmup sets - nothing to failure.

Thanks for the input. Well i hope this routine doesn't do this to me everytime. I hope to adapt. Im in actual pain right now.

Secondly. are your legs literally jello for the remainder of the day after you train them? Any of my prior leg routines never made them that fatigued to where i could not stand on one leg or rise up from a seated position. that fatigue is the difference between this routine and prior ones. Just wondering if that is too much fatigue. maybe i should cut back a set on each. what do you think?

Thanks,

Scaggs
