How much would you have to deadlift to...

How much would you have to deadlift to...lift the back end of a small car?

I think it would be fun to do. A great party trick too. Any one have any ideas on how much you would approximately have to deadlift to get the back end of the car up?

B Fold, maybe you would know, i saw a picture of you flippin over a car..im sure flipping it side ways is a lot harder than lifting the back end.

At my first contest we deadlifted a chevy s-10 and held it for time. I'd say it felt like pulling 405 maybe. Maybe. I actually read that doing the car deadlift in a strongman contest was like pulling 1/3 of the cars weigth from the deadlift position.

That car sucked to flip...2,200lbs. Very hard.

405 isnt that bad for a car.

but damn! 2200 lb car flip.. i cant even try to fathom trying to move that much weight

I really don't remember on that truck deadlift...I hear comments that it felt like 400 and that it felt like 600. I was so phyched up I didn't feel anything lol.

That car from the side though...was hard. I'd like to have one of my own..and I will someday.

Remember that strongman has a lot to do with leverage. Look at how I flip that tire...it is like a football tackle when I start. Low center of gravity and hips shooting up. Same way with the car flip...feet back, head through the side window...explode up. You must have momentum and perfect timing...or you will get hurt..badly.

good thread.

I knew a really big but not too bright guy back home that tried to lift the back end of a Japanese compact - problem was that it had one of those newer plastic bumpers, so after he got all psyched up and everybody was watching he launched into it full-bore and wound up just tearing the plastic and styrofoam off and landing on his ass.... LOL -- ahhh, the good ol' high school days.

if you're going to try to lift from the bumper, pick a Wrangler or an older car with a real old-fashioned steel one. :)
