How much steak is to MUCH?

MrStamina

New member
I have a 18 once steak every day.

Now that its warm,I buy about 60 dollars worth of steak from the butcher and BBQ them, freeze, and eat during the week.

I just wanted to know if Im eating to much red meat? I don't want to have a heart attack or liver problems by the end of the year...lol

i'm not sure it you are looking at thats 6 3oz servings and depending on the meat that could be over 100g of fat and mostly saturated fat. watch that chicken is better

Its not fattening unless you are eating more calories than you are accounting for.

Steak can have alot of fat and account for alot of calories. There is nothing wrong with eating that much in my estimation.

How many Calories are you aiming for? How many Grams of Fat and Protein? These are the important questions that need to be answered in "PerfectVille"

So your saying steak is fatning?

I thought it was good for muslce mass.
Be sure to avoid the types of steak that are really fatty...like Ribeye...it's the best tasting (in my opinion) but extremely fattning, which is why it tastes so good. Your best bet is to go with something lean like Sirloin. It's not a bad cut, good flavor overall and relatively inexpensive, which is always a plus.

Top round/London Broil is the leanest cut of beef. Followed closely by eye of round, fillet mignon, and bottom round.

Luckily the "rounds" are among the cheapest cuts!

I can find it for about $1.60-$2 a lb and believe me when I do I buy the supermarket out!

My butcher just calls the steak he sells me "grilling steak" lol
I have know idea what kind of cut it is , but it taste good..

"Grilling Steak" lol
Well if your lean and your healthy, Stick with it.

One steak a week is good.... but every day is just insane. That's a lot of fat you're consuming. No matter what kind of steak it is, there is always fat.

Unless were talking about bodybuilding, no amount of steak is to much. I ate a 30 oz porterhouse thursday night, friday, and saturday. fuck what everyone else had!

I disagree. Lean cuts have about as much fat as chicken or fish. I eat a 6-8oz steak everyday. A NY strip will average about 34grams of fat per serving whereas Eye of Round can be as lean as 4-6grams of fat.

Mr.Stamina, Your eyes are the best judge of leaness not which cut in particular it is. If it looks solid and lean with little marbeling your good to go.

There isnt necessarily more fat in Beef, it just stands out next to the red meat and is easier to see.

So your talking about the Grizzle, I think thats the right spelling. The long strip of fat that is on one side of the steak?

Can't you just cut that off?

Grizzle vs. fat...I'd cut them both off if possible.

HANSEL, the cut is a good way to generalize the typical leanness of the steak. Marbling = fat that runs throughout the steak (like veins) which adds to the flavor of the steak. It tastes great (in my opinion) but is terribly bad for you. I don't think having lean steak everyday is necessarily "bad" for you...in fact I wish I could!

Wizkid, "No matter what kind of steak it is, there is always fat" -- I don't think that is being contested...just the amount of steak consumed.

I'm not an expert, but I did work at "Outback Steakhouse" for 4 years, slinging steak and pouring beers! I've handled a lot of meat in my day!

filet mignon

when I lived in Dallas, TX there was a place that would give you the steak if you ate it all---it was 72 OUNCES!!!!

I saw an old man finish it

so I think you're good to go :)

I think there is something inherently anabolic about red meat, maybe due to our evolutionary backgrounds. I think the human body handles red meat very well. Like Hansel said steak is not fattening, total calories are. Eating steak won't make you fat as long as you account for the calories. I wish that I could eat red meat everyday. I don't think it is dangerous, just try to eat lean cuts. If you lead a healthy lifestyle (cardio, weights, not being an alchy, etc.) you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

hey, they say that's why the young girls these days (and boys too, I guess) are so much bigger than before...the hormones in milk and steak!

the exception is filet mignon, which is very tender and good tasting imo and actually pretty lean. Of course it costs a ton.....

collegiateLifter--filet is one of my faaaavorites, but you're right...it is expensive and fairly lean! I just don't think that it is very practical...especially if you're eating steak every damn day! I can't imagine what they charge for 72 ounces of filet! That is insane!

AlbinoAssassin--a tease huh? Why do you say that? I'm just friendly! Okay, so I'm nice too...is that so bad?!;)

HANSEL--:lil k:

:D

it just really depends on what your diet is like, I mean you can fucking eat all the steak you want on a keto diet, but if you are doing a moderate to high carb diet I would watch the fat
