i dont see why theres is such a fuss. you cant really go too wrong with highish protein, even if your body does not take it up and keep it in the form of a protein or amino acid (either by using it to repair tissue, or adding it to the various pools of labile protein in the body) then it will use it as energy in a manner similar to that of your other macronutrients
i think the benefit of extra satiety after eating protein and the constant availability of protein for use in repair and growth more than offsets the harm of eating "too much" protein and having to metabolise it to a useable molecule - im thinking biochemical stress, using up of various cofactors etc, and kidney issues.
overall for a BBer, too much is way better than too little, and id rather make the error in that vein
ill be honest though, im a glutton...i often take in over 150 grams in a sitting (
