How many mg of sodium should a bodybuilder take in?

bump. I was also thinking about this the other day. I haven't been drinking any soda for a couple years, but recently stated having a diet soda every now and then to kill the monotony of chicken and turkey. I think it has about 130-150mg.

I guess no one knows the answer.

I would think if you're following a typical cutting diet (i.e., eating clean) and not adding salt to anything that you eat, then you really don't need to be concerned. If you're prepping for a show or something then you can begin to play around with sodium loading/depleting, etc.,

... then your meals will be really tasteless

I guess you're right, we don't need extra sodium but I don't think it really makes a lot of difference as for water retention as long as you drink enough water

Sodium gets such a bad name. It is NOT bad for you - if you are otherwise healthy. If you have sky-high BP, then maybe don't add it to everything, but unless that is your problem, don't cut it out.

Salt adds SO much flavor to otherwise tasteless foods (i.e., egg whites). Yes, it can make you retain some water, but simply increase your water intake and you are fine. Also, who cares about water retention unless you are stepping on stage next week. Plus, excess water in our bodies can help your lifts - water in muscles can help you be stronger in the gym.

Don't fear the salt.
