How do you schedule your rest days?

Hi girls!

Hope everything is going great for all of you.

I'm just wondering, most of us train really hard during the week, some of us do cardio on the days off. So depending on your training split, how do you schedule your rest days? Do you do total rest or just include some type of cardio?

I think of a rest day as exactly that... a REST day. It is a day for your body to unwind from the training and basically repair, grow, REST..etc.

I used to think that taking a day off would slow my progress when it is actually the opposite...

I do cardio every other day and weights every other day as well with 20-30 min cardio post weight training. I do this 6xweek and then 7th day is rest and cheat meal day :)

...every day is kidney day...

What DOES that mean??

I prefer to either 1) completely rest or 2) since I walk alot - to take a leisurely stroll or walk somewhere for the cheat meal....

Hi Nikkita
I see you are from Mexico, I live in Guadalajara...Great to know there is someone else training hard!
I rest on Mondays, lift Tuesday, Thrusday, Saturday. On Wendsday and Thrusday I do HIIT, and after I lift I do try to do some light cardio.
What is your training like? And diet? Me pretty clean...LOL

I lift Tues, Thurs, & Sat. I'm doing a Strength Program, and by the time I'm done I only have energy for 10 minutes of cardio to help my legs. Carido is Sun, Mon & Wed.

My rest day is Friday, that's also my refeed day.

At present, I lift every other day (alternating upper/abs and lower/abs). I do cardio 6 days a week -- so obviously my "REST" day is one where a) I'm not lifting that day and b) the one day a week I don't do cardio.

My rest day is also my "cheat" or "carb up" day as well, like the others so far.

SO my answer: I agree with jenscat -- REST ALL OF IT! Don't lie in bed all day, but definitely rest up. I always find that my cardio AND my lifts are best the day after my rest day. It's a pleasant surprise. :D

Right now, I'm resting 7 days a week :bawling:

Ladies may sure to get COMPLETE REST days, our bodies need the rest just as much as they need the exercise and nutrition, believe me I found out the hard way.

How come?? What happened??

I exhausted my adrenal glands and my doctor told me to rest for 4 to 6 weeks.

I should run you ladies down a list of symptoms to look for, cause I think I had/have every last 1. Geez nobody can say I do things half-assed, why do I think I've said that before
