How do you figure out how much to spend on an engagement/wedding ring? Girls and guys feel free to chime in please.

Like others have said, spend what you feel comfortable with not what you think is the "norm". I only spent $2,000 and granted we weren't making much money, she still loved it.

I love my ring. it's a solitaire just under 1 ct - square cut on a while gold band. very simple. i think it was roughly $2k + some change

apparently the minimum is a 2 carat stone nowadays.. but if I had a girl like that, her gold-digging ass would be getting some prize diamonelle from the Shopping Channel wrapped in a tiffany box.

My girl and I have been kicking around the idea of marriege at some point. I am curious as to find out exactly how much to spend on one. Is it equivalent to your salary? Say if you made 100k a year...what kind of money should be spent on the ring?

I was raised Southern and My momma taught me.

1 carat Minumum

2-3 carat IF they are willing to sign a prenup.

as far as cost.

To get a good Solitaire I would say around 4k and up Way UP.

Depends on the CCC oh and how much you love her.

I honestly would go to World Trade Center and buy the Stone then locate a band and setting.

But thats my oppinion.
