How do I make my DSL faster?

depending on your OS, go to speedguide.net and apply all the tweaks they have. I've been more happy with cable though. Faster d/l rates and I've honestly had less service interuptions with my cable compared to my dsl
 
Do a speedtest and see what you results are since download depend on those who you are downloading from just as much as you. There are some tweaks. Upgrading you system could help too (if you have an old computer) but for the most part you have what you have. As long as the test clocks you above 600ks I wouldn't sweat it. Otherwise you might want to look at cable. I have a pretty fast realiable DSL connection but i know ever one isn't that fortunate. I normally test 1,1500kps down and 220kps up.

At broadbandreports, there are also Forums that are specific to the provider you are working with. Check them out to see if others are having the same problem. As stated before, your OS and computer speed could also have an effect.

It's probably something else. If it were SBC, then no one would be fast because they provide 98% of the lines everyone else's crap runs on. I'm not saying SBC yahoo is the best,
(I dont have it either) but I doubt its the problem.
 
Like most people said for the most part slow speeds will be from the site you are downloading from. Aside from that the only program that I have ever seen work is called Cablenut. It works with ADSL, Cable, and modem and most OS's. It shouldn't be hard to find and I believe is available from one of the sites already mentioned.

I'm doin about 66 / 990 kbps myself. Sometimes a little more.

That's even on Charter Cable!

My buddy has dsl and his is consistantly faster. He's also fairly close to the wire center though.

BACK UP.......MINE ISNT AS FAST AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE EITHER. MY D-LOADS OFF OF KAZAA LITE RARELY GO ABOUT 20/30 KBPS.
